BA-1516-007: An amendment to reduce the time to volunteer for faculty and operational committees from an arbitrary 6 days to a more reasonable 3 days.

Why is three days better than a week? I kind of line the longer period so people have time to think about it, and so that if they miss the sign-up forms during tabling times for two days they still have a chance to sign up.

When there's time, I think that a full week works well, but I'd like CORe have the ability to be more responsive when necessary. This amendment was inspired by the fact that I was just informed that we need to appoint a new student to the CIC. Because we were told on a Monday, the six day requirement means that the appointment process will end up taking closer to two weeks (this seemed a bit long to me). From my experience (on carpe, helpme, and all-students), nearly all students respond within 24 hours to a call-to-action email if they are going to respond at all, so I'm not completely sold on the premise that six days is necessary for people to think it over. Also, allowing students to sign up via an online form (or spreadsheet as we used in September) would allow for students who might have missed the sign up forms during tabling. As an added bonus, By-Law amendments require a three day reading period, so changing this number would make the (somewhat arbitrary) timeline requirements of certain official actions more consistent.
