Where myalias@addy.io is the receiving alias, and user@example.com is the actual sender.

Why this is a problem:

  • Creates confusion about who actually sent the message
  • The alias address (myalias@addy.io) is not the sender; it's the recipient

Reproduction steps:

  1. Receive an email at an Addy alias (e.g., myalias@addy.io) from an external sender (e.g., user@example.com)
  2. Reply to that email
  3. The quoted text will show the alias address as the sender, not the original sender's address
