The canary deployment was experiencing frequent panics in the `getColor` function, causing downtime. The canary was also only serving the color blue, indicating a problem with the color selection logic.

This commit addresses both issues by:
- Replacing the non-thread-safe random number generator with a thread-safe one.
- Removing the logic that allowed the `COLOR` environment variable to override the random color selection.
- Adding a check to prevent panics when the `colors` slice is empty.
