This github project is not source of truth for the MiniDLNA project. I keep it, because upstream is very slow to accept patches for FreeBSD, so the FreeBSD port points at my project, rather than at upstream. I really don't want to hijack development away from original author, despite he is slow at accepting patches. Did you already try to submit to the original project?
