Hello @kenleeyx, Thank you for contacting us with your queries and detailed background information. I shall answer all your questions in the same order.
Coming to your main question of actionable steps to experiment with priors and ensure ROI alignment with your expectations, I’d suggest starting with customizing ROI priors. You may refer to our documentation on How to choose treatment prior types and the pages that follow it under the “Custom Priors” tab. There is detailed guidance on customizing ROI priors, using past experiment data to guide prior setting, setting custom priors with non-revenue metrics, etc. Do reach out if you have any further questions or suggestions regarding Meridian. Hi Meridian team/anyone else who is able to help,
I have a model predicting some ROIs significantly off from what was expected and am thinking to experiment with different priors to see if I get a different result. However I have some difficulty understanding how the priors work. I have the following questions:
1)When outcome is not revenue and revenue_per_kpi is unavailable, and media_prior_type and rf_prior_type are 'roi', I understand that the default total paid media contribution prior will be used. But then what happens to channels which are not paid media i.e. nonmedia and organic media? Would they continue to use default priors?
2)Suppose I am running a model with a nonrevenue KPI and without revenue data. I use the priors given in your Getting Started notebook like below. What is the impact on nonmedia and organic media priors?
3)Is there any way to set a total contribution prior for all media and nonmedia (as opposed to the default total paid media contribution prior)?
3a)If so, would such a prior be compatible with ROI/IKPC/other priors for individual channels?
Copied priors code from the Getting Started notebook(I gather from documentation that ModelSpec takes 'roi' as a default argument for media_prior_type here):
I don't have much experience with MMMs so please do point out if anything doesn't make sense. Any suggestions for further action would be welcome too. Lastly, thank you very much!
