Proposed change

The production code had an assert, that did not allow parameter delay > 1, which clearly is wrong.

Removed.

Additional information

There are a couple of other asserts in the production code, which needs to be removed....but they cannot simply be removed, but need to moved to validators so they are detected at startup.
