Hi, I'm trying to synchronize my Synology LDAP Server with the following configuration:

sync_token = "..."
ldap_uri = "ldaps://ldap..."
ldap_ca = "/etc/kanidm/ldap-ca.crt"
ldap_sync_base_dn = "dc=ldap,dc=...,dc=..."
ldap_filter = "(|(objectclass=person)(objectclass=posixgroup))"
ldap_sync_dn = "uid=root,cn=users,dc=ldap,dc=...,dc=..."
ldap_sync_pw = "..."

the bind config works with ldapsearch but when I try to start the sync I get the following error:

[error]: Failed to parse bind DN - check the basedn and app attribute if present are correct. Examples: name=tobias,app=lounge,dc=idm,dc=...,dc=... OR name=ellie,dc=idm,dc=...,dc=... OR name=claire,app=table OR name=william  | binddn: "uid=root,cn=users,dc=ldap,dc=...,dc=..."

the binddn is specified by Synology, therefore I can't change the format. is this really due to the way the binddn is formatted (uid=... instead of name=...)?

uid= will work as well - check out https://kanidm.github.io/kanidm/stable/integrations/ldap.html#showing-ldap-entries-and-attribute-maps to show all the attribute maps that we support

sorry, my fault, the error message was misleading me and in reality I provided a wrong port. again sorry for the confusion!

No problem - ldap errors are generally terrible and misleading, so I'm glad you got it sorted out.
