According to the Freedesktop specifications for thumbnails [1], the thumbnails directory should be stored in $XDG_CACHE_HOME/thumbnails, not in $HOME/.thumbnails. This fixes that [1]: http://specifications.freedesktop.org/thumbnail-spec/thumbnail-spec-latest.html#DIRECTORY

Wow. I SWEAR we used to have this at some point, but I can't find it in history anywhere (look at my comments in #5). The weird part is, on my system, it IS |

I believe the thumbnail specification was updated in May 2012 which is actually after your comment in #5. I'm on Arch, but I'm pretty sure the Freedesktop spec should be distribution independent. Perhaps Nautilus doesn't yet follow the spec for thumbnail cache yet? |
