just a thought while its on my mind (since atkinson is in segregation also)

what strikes me is a practical difference between segregation and inequality (in many of the current examples anyway) is the former tends to focus on categorical distinctions (i.e. race groups) whereas the latter often examines continuous or ordinal distinctions (i.e. income quantiles). Would it make sense to put the rank-order information theory index here (a la reardon and bischoff?)
