Install the Essence Scholar Extension with these simple steps:

Clone (development) (optional)

Download (stable)
- Visit the GitHub tags page
- Select the latest tag
- Download and extract the ZIP archive

Load in Chrome
- Open
chrome://extensions/ - Enable Developer mode
- Click Load unpacked and choose the extension folder
- Open

Configure API Key
- In the extension settings, add your preferred LLM API key (Gemini, OpenAI, or Claude)

Open an SSRN paper page or a direct PDF link in your browser.

Click the extension icon in the toolbar.

Select Analyze Paper (or Analyze PDF) to begin.

Review the AI-generated insights, including:

- Bibliography overview
After analysis completes, open the chat panel to:
- Ask detailed questions about the paper’s content or methods.

- Memory Usage: Minimal browser memory footprint

- No paper content is stored permanently
- Author information is fetched from public sources only
- No personal data is collected or transmitted
