Prometheus is an open-source systems monitoring toolkit that provides real-time metrics in a time series database (allowing for high dimensionality) built using a HTTP pull model, with flexible queries.
There are a number of libraries and servers which help in exporting existing metrics from third-party systems as Prometheus metrics.
The Prometheus App discovers endpoint targets and verifies that the target is valid in cache before attempting to query the database. Metrics are then queried and computed for the endpoint and returned as properties on the eyeSight Appliance.
A number of policy examples are provided in the "Prometheus System Templates" which can be tuned as appropriate for the customer use case.
