I'm a backend engineer, and most of my open source time goes into Multilify, a multilingual plugin for WordPress.

The design goal was to avoid what the bigger plugins do. Translations live in post meta instead of duplicate posts, so there is no second query to serve a translated page and no content sprawl. URLs resolve through per-language rewrite rules, and the default language keeps WordPress' own prefix-free paths. Nothing leaves your server.

It is free, and it stays free. There is no pro version waiting behind the features you actually need.

Sponsoring me covers the two real costs of that: the evening and weekend hours the plugin takes, and the infrastructure around it, hosting for the plugin site and test environments for the WordPress and PHP versions I support.
