will check the video. It wasn't the high priority on my side to publish the content of my guide, so when I tried and failed to create a epub, I see it more as an user issue ;-). But when reading @robs-fotoalbum post today I mentioned I'm not alone.

Not sure but maybe if I really get the purpose of the Publisher Theme. But when I tested it with my "Guide", i liked some of the design aspects. When I found the the "Reading Toolbar" settings I assume that it will add all Icons/Funktons to this orange toolbar

Are these projects or is this the basic website? Because the publisher theme is exclusively designed for multi-projects, and each project represents an ebook. The basic website only provides general information about the platform, like about, authors, and similar information. These pages do not have a reading toolbar. Please check the demo-project under https://books.typemill.net, it is the same there. It is also written in the theme description, but I have to clarify it more prominently again: https://themes.typemill.net/publisher

I can probably implement an option to create a reading design for the basic website with an ebook generation, too, and it definately makes sense. But it also has some more conceptional implications and requires some more work, so it could be a V2. Anyway, it is good for me to understand the expectations of users, I guess that more users will run into these questions...

Ok, it's my fault. In my case it's a just my "one project" side. I liked some aspects of the design, but I'm not sure if I will use it in the end. So don't invest time adding these buttons just for me.

On your example side everything works fine for me.

Next steps for me, watching your video and then checking the ebook issue again. I think this should also work on the "Guide Theme", right. But it also not on the prio list on top one. BTW. the PDF generation works fine!

Yes, epub should work with all themes, so I will test it and fix it on my side

I have some screenshots here attached how the current settings and results are. I can post also some yaml files or settings from the localhost directory if you let me know which ones you would need. This is one basic test PDF. But when this will run with the navigation I would like to switch over my whole production website https://fotoalbum.ws (currently Guide theme, same content) to this, because this is really what I'm looking for. My photos ares stored in flickr and own databases and will just be linked. The PDF will build the frame with text to flip through and have a PDF as takeaway.

Hi Rob, I checked your settings and I can see two issues:

• Multilanguage is still enabled, but the theme only works with multiproject, not with multilanguage.
• The ebook was generated from the basic website, not from a project.

The theme is designed exclusively for multiproject instances. It lists projects on the start page and adds the reading buttons only on project pages. The purpose of the basic website is to provide general information for visitors, such as “About”, “Authors”, or similar content.

I understand that this can be confusing and will update the theme description and screencast asap. In principle, I could improve the theme so that it also works with a single ebook project or treats the general website as an additional project. However, in that setup there would no longer be a way to publish general platform information that is not directly related to book publication. For that reason, this approach did not make much sense to me conceptually.

I will think about it, but in any case this would not be a quick change.

when I switch from multi-language to multi-project there is no difference. Thanks for the hint with the basic website. I tried to generate a PDF from the project level - the one with content is the German version START de. When I try to generate a PDF on this level I receive:

Slim Application Error
A website error has occurred. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience.

Maybe the change back from multi-language to multi-project didn't record all required parameter. I will check with dummy data on some new projects and multi-project setting. No problem for me to shift the general content parts from my basic website to a project to have it availabe there. I will try this out as I like the the idea with the project and dedicated PDFs plus online navigation very much. It way more connvenient as a website for my case.

Any tips for the Slim Application Error appreciated.

I got it working after a short test :-)

Also the reason for the Slim Application Error: it is triggered as soon as you include "home" in the TOC.
So for me then I know my way around the setup now. Multi-Project is the ways to go, no problem to create language versions on a project level, no need to switch between the language (that was the feature of the multi-language setting)

Some minor suggestions for the theme:

• a box to switch off the logo as in the guide theme
• a box to start with the bright setting - otherwise you cannot read the website title
• a click on the logo or website title only leads to the project - maybe an option-checkbox like in guide

Looking forward to the next steps and setting up my store.

Yes, this is the cost of freedom and flexibility of Typemill, and there is no technical solution for this. To generate books, I have to store the selection separately somewhere. Since authors can edit and change the content of the website in any possible way (add pages/folders, delete pages/folders, move pages/folders), the selection and navigation gets out of sync, so you have to start new. It is nearly impossible to auto-sync the content with the ebook-selection, because users can create unlimited and nested content, several projects, language-versions, and unlimited ebooks in multiple places. This is just the cost of flexibility that Typemill provides.

3. Is there a limit for a chapter? When I try to make an ebook from my guide, it can’t convert all my glossar entries and stops with "HTML". The pages are generated but are empty. The same happens with PDF generation.

There is no limit, so I guess there is another issue. This happens with ePUB and PDF with the browser-version (based on paged.js) and the remote version (based on WeasyPrint)? Unfortunately I cannot analyse the problem from the distance

Ok, seems again my fault. I used an "old" project. After creating a new one (and clicking all the checkboxes for all pages again) it works. So this is fixed on my side, sorry.

Just a comment:
I check the epub with Sigl and Calibre ebook-edit.
the problem with the ident are the blanks between the <pre> and <code>-tags. I learned that source code color coding is not so easy possible in epubs, but adding a CSS-Style-Sheet with:

helps to get for the code blocks at least a black background and no scrolling. For the inline code it just rendered the font monospaced, what I also would prefer in the PDF.

There seems also to be an issue with the TOC, there are indents defined for but the are not rendered. Only all the links as flat list.

Hope this helps. Never the less for me it's prio very low
