This directory is intentionally mostly empty in git.

• baseline.json is the reviewed release baseline used by scripts/bench_real.py when REQUIRE_PASS=1.
• results/ is generated by benchmark runs and ignored by git.
• payloads/ is legacy/generated output and ignored by git.

To create the first release baseline, run the full benchmark with bootstrap enabled, review the artifact, then copy the candidate:

BASELINE_BOOTSTRAP=1 make gate
cp bench/results/<timestamp>/baseline_candidate.json bench/baseline.json

Do not commit a baseline from a failed, short, or noisy run.

Public release summary artifacts live under benchmarks/artifacts/. Raw benchmark output under bench/results/ stays local and ignored.
