Gridbike is an arcade game with a decidedly retro aesthetic and gameplay system, in which you try to rescue all the people on each level without crashing into the mines or the trail left by your own bike. This last part will be the most complicated, since if you make the wrong move, you can crash into your own trail, just like in the Tron movies.
Simple and accessible controls
The controls in Gridbike are very simple: just use the arrow keys to move around the setting. That's it. Like this, you will have to try to rescue all the people on the level while also avoiding your own trail and the mines. In addition, by collecting the coins and stars, you can get extra points and enter bonus levels. It's also important to keep in mind that your motorcycle's speed will increase as you beat levels.
Dozens and dozens of levels
In Gridbike, you will find more than 30 different levels of increasing difficulty. Your motorcycle will move faster and faster, and in each level, you will have to rescue more and more people. What's more, there will also be many more mines, which will make moving around the settings very difficult. Basically, if you want to beat some of the advanced levels, you will have to think way ahead for every move.
My experience with Gridbike
The truth is that Gridbike feels like a game from another era, like one of those nineties arcade games with gameplay that's as simple as it is addictive. It's almost like if the legendary snake game from the old Nokia phones and the Tron movies had a baby.
The best and worst of Gridbike
• What I like most about Gridbike is that it takes up less than 500 KB and lets you enjoy an instant retro arcade experience.
• What I like least about Gridbike is that the level selector is a bit inconvenient.
A fun arcade game just like the classics
Download Gridbike if you like retro games and want to enjoy an experience worthy of old arcade machines or 90s consoles. A fun and addictive title with very simple visuals.
