January Rudolph Day

It's time for the first Rudolph Day of the year.  For the past few years I've had a theme for me RD cards. In 2017 I used images from a Lili of the Valley Art Pad, in 2018 my cards were 4" x 4", in 2019 all cards had a Christmas tree on them, in 2020 I used wet and/or dry embossing on my cards, in 2021 I used something that had been upcycled, in 2022 I used something that had been a cover gift with a magazine, in 2023 all my cards were cross stitch designs and last year they were all white, green and gold.  This year my theme will be die cutting and I will have used at least one die on the cards.

I've used this 'Opulent Baubles' embossing folder many times, but as the small die had fallen out of it I decided to cut a different bauble for this card.

To make this card I used:
     C6 white matt card blank
Marianne Design Creatables 'Christmas Bauble' and Memory Box 'Crisp Bows' dies
Practical Publishing 'Opulent Baubles' embossing folder
Snippets of white matt card red glitter card and gold mirri

I placed the bauble die inside the embossing folder and embossed a piece of white card, this also cut the bauble shape.  The panel was trimmed and attached to the card blank.  I die cut the bauble from red glitter card and inlaid it into the front of the card.  The bauble was cut again with gold mirri and the small pieces inlaid into the card.  I die cut the bow from gold mirri and trimmed the bottom so it left just the bow section, this was then attached to the top of the bauble.

I am entering the following challenges:

Another Opulent Bauble

I made this quick Christmas card with lots of snippets - I know I use this embossing folder and stamp set a lot, but it's still one of my favourites for quick cards.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 4" white matt card blank
Practical Publishing 'Opulent Baubles' embossing folder and stamps
     Versafine Onyx Black ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail embossing powder
Snippets of white matt card, red paper and red textured card

I embossed a piece of white matt card, trimmed around the edge so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and attached it to the front.  I used black ink to stamp the joy bauble onto the red paper and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I then used the die from the embossing folder to cut the bauble before inlaying it into the front of the card.   I stamped the bow onto a snippet of red textured card using black ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I fussy cut the bow and attached it to the top of the bauble with a small foam pad.

Blue & White Opulent Bauble

I made this card with the colours of the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge.  This embossing folder, die and stamp set was a cover gift with a magazine ages ago and is still one of my favourites for quick CAS cards.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 4" white matt card blank
Practical Publishing 'Opulent Baubles' embossing folder and stamps
     Versafine Majestic Blue ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail embossing powder
Snippets of white matt card, white paper, blue paper and blue textured card

I embossed a piece of white matt card, trimmed around the edge so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and attached it to the front.  I attached the blue paper to snippets of white printer paper to make it the same thickness as the embossed card.  I used blue ink to stamp the bauble onto the blue paper and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I then used the die from the embossing folder to cut the bauble before inlaying it into the front of the card.   I stamped the bow onto a snippet of blue textured card using blue ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I fussy cut the bow and attached it to the top of the bauble with a small foam pad.

I am entering the following challenges:
52 Christmas Card Throwdown - White & Blue
Christmas Craft Creations - Stencils or Embossing Folder (I have chosen embossing folder)
Christmas Kickstart Challenge - Out on a Limb

Lighthouse Collage

I spotted this preloved Stampendous 'Lighthouse Collage' stamp in a charity shop last week and couldn't resist buying it as it was a 20p bargain!  It was another wooden stamp but, like my Woodware stamps, I was able to peel the whole stamp from the rubber block so I can use it in my MISTI.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Stampendous 'Lighthouse Collage' and Practical Publishing 'Stamps for All Occasions' stamps
     Versafine Vintage Sepia ink
Snippets of brown card and Marianne Design 'Watercolour' paper

As the foam was still on the back of the stamp I removed the foam pad from my MISTI before using brown ink to stamp the image onto a snippet of blue watercolour paper.  I replaced the foam pad into the MISTI and lined the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment to the right before stamping it a couple of times with brown ink to ensure it was the same depth of colour as the collage.  I trimmed the panel to 5" x 5", layered it onto dark brown card and attached it to the centre of the card blank.

I am entering the following challenges:
Cardz 4 Guyz - Something New from Stash (I have used a 'new to me' stamp)
Make My Monday - Happy Birthday
Moving Along With The Times - New Craft Item (I have used my new Stampendous stamp)
Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes

Kraft and Red Bauble

This 'Opulent Baubles' set was a cover gift with a magazine several years ago and is still one of my favourite emboss, cut and stamp sets for CAS cards.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 4" kraft card
Practical Publishing 'Opulent Baubles' embossing folder and stamps
     Versafine Onyx Black ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail embossing powder
Snippets of kraft card, red paper and red textured card

I embossed a piece of kraft card, trimmed around the edge so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and attached it to the front.

Everyone Needs a Friend Like You

I made this card to send to Mia for the March Card Chain Challenge using the Colour Option (Carrot, Shamrock & Spice), the Theme Option (Friendship) and the Product Option (Stamps).

At first I was unsure how to use the colours and then decided 'Carrot' would be perfect for my new (preloved but new to me!) French Marigold dies.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white hammer card blank
My Favorite Things 'Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-Namics', Creative Expressions 'Finishing Touches - French Marigold', 'Finishing
Touches - Pierced Summer Blooms' and Tattered Lace 'Mini Butterfly' dies
Practical Publishing 'Stamps for All Occasions' sentiment stamp
     Versafine Vintage Sepia ink
     Sakura orange coloured pencil
Snippets of orange, green and brown textured card
     Wink of Stella

I used the largest stitched circle die to emboss a circle in the centre of the card blank and set it aside.  I die cut the three different size French Marigold flowers from orange card and used an dark orange coloured pencil to colour the centres of the petals before layering them.  I cut three different size leaves from green card and the smallest circle from the Pierced Summer Blooms set from brown card.  I placed the card blank into my MISTI and laid the flower and leaves onto it so I could see where the place the sentiment.  I removed the flower and leaves before stamping the sentiment a couple of times with brown ink ensuring a good depth of colour.  I used the orange pencil to colour 'YOU' before attaching the flower and leaves above the sentiment.  I die cut a small butterfly from brown card and attached it above the sentiment.  To finish I highlighted 'YOU' and the centre of the flower with a Wink of Stella.

I am entering the following challenges:

Marbled Bauble

This embossing folder, die and stamp set was a cover gift with a magazine ages ago and is still one of my favourites.  This card uses my last tiny snippet of a beautiful marbled paper I bought from Jess (The Whimsical Marbler).

I embossed a piece of white card, trimmed the edges so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and attached it to the card.  The bauble shape was cut from the panel when it had been embossed.  I attached a snippet of paper to a thin piece of white card, stamped the bauble with black ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  The bauble was cut with the die from the embossing folder and inlaid into the front of the card.  I stamped the bow onto a tiny snippet of turquoise textured card and fussy cut it before attaching it to the top of the bauble with a foam pad.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 4" white matt card blank
Practical Publishing 'Opulent Baubles' emboss, cut and stamp set
     Versafine Onyx Black ink
Cosmic Shimmer Clear Detail embossing powder
Snippets of marbled paper, turquoise textured card and white matt card

Terrific Triangles

I made this card to send to Greta for the October Card Chain Challenge.  I used the Colour Option (Silver, Blush & Frost) and the Theme Option (Friendship).

I die cut a stitched square from pale blue pearlescent card and set it aside.  I die cut four bottom layer triangles from silver mirri card and four top layer triangles from pink pearlescent card.  I layered the pink onto the silver and then attached all four triangles to the blue square.  The panel was then attached to the card front.  I die cut two 'hello' sentiments from white card and one from silver mirri.  The white layers were layered onto each other with the silver layered on top and slightly offset to give a white shadow, this was then attached to the lower section of the square.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank
Practical Publishing 'Terrific Triangles', My Favorite Things 'Inside & Out Stitched Square STAX Die-namics' and Altenew 'Simply Hello' dies
Snippets of white matt card, silver mirri card, blue and pink pearlescent card

October Rudolph Day Challenge

It's time for another Rudolph Day card using a magazine cover gift - which is my RD theme this year.  This card uses a Cardmaking Magic 'Perfect Poinsettia' die that was a cover gift with Die Cutting Essentials magazine.

I trimmed a piece of card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank.  I then die cut the poinsettia outline and 'Christmas' from the panel (keeping the 'Christmas' sentiment to one side as I needed the small pieces to inlay).  I attached a snippet of gold sparkle card behind the panel before attaching it to the front of the card blank.  I die cut the intricate poinsettia and 'Christmas' from red sparkle card and inlaid these into the front of the card.  To finish I inlaid the small pieces of white card into the 'Christmas' sentiment.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white hammer card blank
Practical Publishing Cardmaking Magic 'Perfect Poinsettia' dies
Snippets of white hammer card, red sparkle card and gold glitter paper

Hello

I made this card to send to Jo for the September Card Chain Challenge.  I used the Colour Option (Ginger, Buttercup & Sage) and the Theme Option (Friendship).

To make this card I used:
     6" x 6" white matt card blank

Christmas in July

This card uses one of my favourite stamp, die, embossing folder sets which was a magazine cover gift a while ago.  I have used the colours from this week's 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (red, white & aqua) for the card.

I embossed a piece of white card with the bauble embossing folder and trimmed it so it was slightly smaller than the card blank before attaching it to the front.  I attached a snippet of aqua paper to white card and then stamped the 'joy' bauble with red ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I used the coordinating die to cut the bauble and inlaid it into the card.  I stamped the bow with red ink onto a snippet of red textured card and fussy cut it before attaching it to the top of the bauble with a foam pad.

Sending Smiles Across the Miles

I made this card to send to Dee for the May Card Chain Challenge.  I chose the Colour Option (Peach, Terracotta & Pineapple), the Theme Option (Friendship) and the Product Option (Embossing Powder).

I used the two largest rectangle dies to cut a frame from a snippet of terracotta textured card.  I trimmed a snippet of peach paper so it was slightly smaller than the frame and then placed it into my MISTI.  I stamped the sentiment in the top corner of the paper using brown ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  The paper was attached to the back of the frame and then onto the centre of the card. I stamped the butterfly with brown ink onto a snippet of white card and embossed it with clear embossing powder before cutting it with the coordinating die. I coloured the butterfly wings with a yellow Promarker and the body with a peach Promarker.  I attached the butterfly to the card along its body so I could shape the wings.  To finish I attached three small clear shimmering dots below the sentiment.

To make this card I used:
6" x 4" tent fold white matt card blank
Card Making Magic 'The Best of Cardmaking Magic' butterfly stamp & coordinating die
My Favorite Things 'Inside & Out Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics' dies

Happy Birthday To You

As we're away in our campervan next weekend, I've spent some time making cards for the next few months. I made this card for a friend's birthday using the colours from the Butterfly Challenge.

I trimmed a piece of cream hammer card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and die cut the Springtime butterfly frame from the top of the card.  I placed the panel into my MISTI and stamped the sentiment a couple of times to get a good deep colour.  I attached a snippet of paper behind the aperture before attaching it to the front of the card blank.  I die cut the Springtime frame from green textured card and inlaid it into the aperture.  I die cut a large butterfly and two smaller butterflies from purple textured card and attached them to the front of the card.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 4" white hammer card blank

If Friends Were Flowers

I made this card to send to Lucille for the April Card Chain Challenge using the Colour Option (Charcoal, Lime & Bumblebee) and the Theme Option (Spring & Friendship).

I die cut lots of spring leaves from snippets of yellow card, the foliage from green card and the loop embellishment from black card.  To make the flower I die cut a circle from white card for the flower base and attached it to my craft mat with a small piece of double sided tape.  I attached yellow leaves around the edge of the circle placing the solid leaves at the back and the cut out leaves on top.  I attached the green foliage over the top of the solid yellow leaves and then the black embellishments between the foliage.  I used black ink to stamp the sentiment onto white card and embossed it with clear embossing powder before die cutting it with a stitched circle die.  I layered the sentiment onto the centre of the flower before attaching it to the card blank.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white matt card
Practical Publishing 'Spring Leaves' dies (cover gift with Die Cutting Essentials 86 magazine)

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white matt card blak
My Favorite Things 'Inside & Out Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics' dies

It's Rudolph Day again - time is flying by, where is this year going?   My Rudolph Day theme this year is to use items that have been cover gifts with magazines.  This card uses an 'Opulent Baubles' set that was a cover gift a Practical Publishing magazine - although I can't recall which one.

I embossed a piece of white card and trimmed the edges before attaching it to the card blank - the embossing folder had also die cut the bauble shape from the embossed panel.  I attached a snippet of green marbled paper onto a snippet of card and stamped the bauble with black ink before embossing it with clear embossing powder.  I placed the bauble into the embossing folder and die cut it before inlaying it into the card.  I stamped the bow onto a snippet of green textured card using black ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  To finish I fussy cut the bow and attached it to the top of the bauble.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 4" white matt card blank

March Rudolph Day

It's time for another Rudolph Day card and another card using a magazine cover gift, which is my theme this year.  This Creative Dies die was a cover gift with a Practical Publishing magazine several years ago (I first started using it in 2018) although I can't recall the title of the magazine.

I die cut the woodland scene from white matt card and placed the image in my MISTI so I could line up and stamp the sentiment along the lower edge.  The panel was then layered onto a snippet of blue paper.  I die cut and embossed a square in dark blue card and layered the scene onto it before attaching it to the card blank.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white matt card blank
Practical Publishing - Creative Dies 'Woodland Scene'  and Spellbinders Nestabilities 'Classic Squares Large' dies
Woodware 'Delightful Dangles - Christmas Tree' sentiment stamp

February Rudolph Day

My Rudolph Days theme this year is to use something that has been a cover gift with a magazine.  This card uses a 'Noel' die that was a cover gift with Simply Cards & Papercraft Issue 222 last year.

I attached a piece of white hammer card to the front of the card blank leaving a small border around the edge.  I placed both the border and letter dies onto green mirri card and used washi tape to hold everything in place.  After die cutting them, I removed the letters and attached the border to the centre of the card blank.  I attached a snippet of gold glitter adhesive paper to a piece of white card and die cut the letters.  The glitter letters were then inlaid into the frame.

To make this card I used:
     6" x 4" white hammer card blank
     Practical Publishing 'Noel' die

January Rudolph Day

It's time for the first Rudolph Day of 2022!  For the past few years I've enjoyed working to a theme for my Rudolph Day cards.  In 2017 I used images from a Lili of the Valley Art Pad, in 2018 my cards were 4" x 4", in 2019 all cards had a Christmas tree on them, in 2020 I used wet and/or dry embossing on my cards and last year I used something that had been upcycled on my cards.  This year my cards will all use something that has been a cover gift with a magazine.

This month's card uses a 'Nativity Bauble' die that was a cover gift with Die-Cutting Essentials magazine. I trimmed a piece of white hammer card so it was slightly smaller than the card blank and rounded the corners.  I die cut the Nativity Bauble from the centre of the panel before attaching it to the card.  I die cut the bauble from dark blue pearlescent card and inlaid it into the aperture.  I attached a snippet of gold patterned paper onto a thin piece of card (so it was the same thickness as the aperture) and die cut the bauble before inlaying the background.  To finish I die cut the star from gold mirri and attached it to the top of the bauble.

To make this card I used:
     5" x 5" white hammer card blank
Practical Publishing 'Memory Box Nativity Bauble'
Snippets of white hammer card, dark blue pearlescent card, thin white matt card, gold mirri and gold patterned paper
