After the end of the successful first season of Victoria epic series, ITV is looking to secure their rule in the Sunday evening prime time slot with another period set drama that starts its launch this Sunday! The four part epic adventure mini series  TUTAN KHAMUN with Sam Neill and Max Irons, directed by our dear Peter Webber (Girl With the Pearl Earring),  is written by leading screenwriter Guy Burt (Jekyll and Hyde, The Borgias) and will focus on the legendary personal story of Howard Carter, a solitary man on the edge of society who became an iconic figure and an unlikely hero. Waleed Elgadi and Amy Wren also star.

 DIGGING UP THE PHARAOH! 
Set against the great sweep of ochre sands, looming cliffs and baking heat of Egypt’s Valley of the Kings, the story unfolds from 1905 when Carter (Max Irons), an eminent British archaeologist who we meet in his early 20’s, is fervently leading an expedition. Amidst the chaos scattered across the Valley floor, Carter’s grim determination to find lost antiquities is only too apparent. He has an easy manner with the Egyptian men who work alongside him, but when tempers fray Carter is hotheaded and puts the dig and his career in jeopardy. The disgraced Carter's career takes an upswing when he's hired by an eccentric aristocrat Lord Carnarvon (Sam Neill) to search for the famous tomb of pharaoh TUTANKHAMUN in the 1920s. After years of searching for the tomb, Carter and Carnarvon successfully discover the last resting place of the boy-king in 1921 against all odds and at great personal expense.

ABC ORDERS EPIC SERIES PILOT

I've recently shared with you the first photos from Spike TV's upcoming mini series on king Tut, and now it seems we will be getting another Ancient Egypt set series, but this time  at ABC! OF KINGS AND PROPHETS will be an epic Biblical TV drama bringing the saga of faith, ambition and betrayal as told through the eyes of a battle weary king, a powerful and resentful prophet and a resourceful young shepherd on a collision course with destiny. They could be talking about King David here. We announced a series on him a year ago from EOne, but we haven't heard anything about it later on. 

NBC ORDERS 'UNVEILED'

 PILOT ON GUARDIAN ANGELS
Meanwhile, rival NBC has ordered a pilot for new TV series from Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, the creators of popular historical series THE BIBLE,  and the upcoming epic mini series AD and THE DOVE- KEEPERS. Their new project UNVEILED will have the story revolving around an ensemble of flawed guardian angels who intervene in the lives of those who find themselves facing crisis in an attempt to restore their faith and, often, save their lives. As you remember Roma Downey was the creator of classic series TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL which had a similar storyline.

EPIC NEW POSTERS ARE HERE!

The end of this year is bringing us a number of epic adventures to the big screens, and beside the final chapter of THE HOBBIT THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES, another epic spectacle to feast our eyes on will definitely be Ridley Scott's Ancient Egypt historical movie of humongous proportions EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS. The movie just got three new posters and you can check them out today! With Christian Bale leading the star studded cast the movie will battle its way into cinemas December 12th!

THE STAR STUDDED CAST

CHRISTIAN BALE, AARON PAUL, JOEL EDGERTON, BEN KINGSLEY

Ridley Scott's visually mindblowing and large scale interpretation of the legendary exodus of the Hebrews from Ancient Egypt as led by Moses (Christian Bale) and related in the Old Testament Book of Exodus, will also star Australian actor Joel Edgerton as Egyptian ruler Pharaoh Ramesses II, with Sigourney Weaver and John Turturro as his parents Tuya and Seti! Aaron Paul will sport a long hair as Joshua, with Ben Kingsley as Nun and Indira Varma as High Priestess Miriam! The lavish costumes are done by famous Oscar winner Janty Yates who already worked with Ridley on his other historical classics GLADIATOR, ROBIN HOOD and in KINGDOM OF HEAVEN!

DEFYING AN EMPIRE
The sweeping historical epic will bring the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses (Joel Edgerton), setting 400,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.
