UUID Compatibility Update

Hey everyone! I wanted to tell you a little bit about the update that we released this morning on the Hypixel Network.

This update was a major and mandatory overhaul of our backend systems (over 20,000 lines of code changed!) and made us 100% compatible with Mojang’s upcoming switch to a UUID system for the purposes of allowing name changes (more info on name changes here).

This means that when they begin supporting name changes, you’ll be able to change your name on their website and log in to Hypixel and play with all of your friends, purchases, and stats.

We’ve got some points we’d like to clarify about the name-change system, though:
  • You will keep all of your stats, purchases, friends, guilds, etc.
  • Players who are banned will stay banned, and punishments don’t get removed from your account history for simply changing names.
  • You can change your name as many times and as frequent as Mojang will allow you to. Our system will handle it.
  • It’s your responsibility to keep your friends up to date on what name you’re going by, otherwise they’ll just see a stranger in their friends list!
  • Mojang is making it possible to see the previous names a player has gone by via their API service. So in the future websites will exist that you can check a player’s name history.
Even though we have dealt with the vast majority of the bugs from this morning, there is a possibility we’ve missed some. Be especially on the lookout for bugs such as this

Note the long set of random letters and numbers being shown instead of the player name. If you find such bugs, please let us know on our bug forum!

Thanks for your patience, we timed the update and maintenance period to be on our quietest period of the week (1AM - 10AM EST Monday Morning) to make as little impact as possible to your playing experience.

Server Maintenance : UUID Update

Hi folks,

The server is currently down for undergoing maintenance while we are making changes to swap all systems to UUID based instead of name based.

The purpose for this update is to ensure we are ready for Mojangs upcoming name change system. You can find out more about that here! No other features or updates are included in this maintenance.

Once the update is complete, it means that when Mojang release their name changing service, you will be able to change the name without losing any progress, achievements friend lists or anything. It also means that players banned for hacking and unacceptable behavior can't avoid their justice by changing names to get back on the server.

While the server is down, it's a great time to post ideas, feedback and bugs on the forum, or check out the Hypixel store (the Xmas sale will last for another few hours until we put the server back up and turn it off)

This is a complicated and tricky process that will need several hours downtime. We are hopefully aiming for the server to be back up again in the next few hours before our peak player count but can provide no firm ETA just yet.

Edit: The server is currently up to test some changes, be aware you may encounter some problems testing games while we are doing fixes.
Edit 2: We are aware of a sporadic lag issue delaying commands and sometimes preventing signs from joining. We are working on a fix.
Edit 3: Signs, guild and other commands are taking a long time.
Edit 4: There is an issue with some coin gains, we are working on this.

Edit 5: All Major Bugs should now be gone, we are still working on minor bugs.

New Parkours for Lobbies

The main lobby and every single game lobby have had completly new parkours added to them. There are a large variety of styles, ranging from 30 second speed runs which require perfection like Blitz (Hah get it?!? Blitz!), to tricky towers to climb like the UHC parkour and an old favorite has also made a return!

Who will get the fastest times? Check the list below for some new parkour related features! Like more accurate times and some new commands

Changes
  • 11 new parkours have been added to the server. All game lobbies have a tunnel which lead to the parkours just to the left after you spawn.
  • Times now have a 00:00.000 (thousandths of a second) format instead of just a 00:00, this will separate the greatest from the great!
  • Parkours now have checkpoints, these optional stop locations are useful if you are a newer player who is more interested in completing the parkour than impersonating Usain Bolt. Remember however! The true heart of parkour is to move freely - a better way could always exist!
  • You can now reset to the start of a parkour. Useful for ultra competitive parkour players! You no longer need to fly back to the start.
We are aware that on rare occasions using the checkpoint command can result in the parkour failing due to you "teleporting". As a temporary work around we recommend you stop moving before using the checkpoint command, we are working on this problem.

UHC Champions Update

Solo Mode

Don't have any friends to play the Team Mode? Well now is your chance to play solo in UHC Champions and prove your worth to the world!

Important highlights are as follow;
  • No deathmatch
  • World Border will reach x:0 y:0
  • Game time has been extended because of deathmatch removal
  • 99 players
  • Nether world is smaller

It is not allowed to team in Solo Mode.
It is not allowed to cross-team in Team Mode.
If you see someone teaming or cross-teaming, please report the abuse here.
The moderator team will soon post new rules regarding abuse with teaming and cross-teaming across the network - we already have been banning excessive abusers.

Recipe Book

To help players memorize the recipes, we added a recipe book in the pre-game lobby and also in game.

Quakecraft Update

New Maps

Fryst - also known as Cold War v2 during the development process, a frosty map made for experienced players, featuring ice that’ll speed up your player and chill your toes. Wrap up warm!

Library - A literal hell to the uneducated, the library is a place where Tomes of Knowledge rest, and gather dust in the days of modern youth and online internet access.

The maps Woodstone and Hustwood have been retired to the map vault for now, as they are the two least popular maps on Quakecraft.

Power Ups
The two new maps feature an experimental feature only found on those maps, namely powerups! Speedboost (10s of Speed III) and Rapid Fire (4 Seconds of 0.3s Trigger)

Power ups always spawn after a set amount of time, so good players can time their movements to collect power ups at the exact right moment!

The experimental power up feature will be rolled out to other maps if it is well received.

Air Dashing
Another new experimental feature, you can now perform a small mid air dash by left clicking with your rail gun. Use this to dodge your enemies attacks and move in unexpected ways, and leap across chasms!

Other Features
  • Gun Builder - Automatically create your desire gun!
  • 6 New Cosmetic Hats - Including the Hypixel Hat
  • 6 New Cosmetic Kits - Including the Fashionista Kit
  • New Gun: The Turtle - Can you win a game with a 2.5 second trigger?!
  • New Gun: The Worm - Can you do the impossible and win with a 5 second trigger?
  • New Feature: Kill Sounds - Customizable Sounds the sound of your enemies demise!
  • Win Coin Adjustment - 1st, 2nd and 3rd now get 10/5/3 coins respectively
  • Killstreak Coin Adjustment - Bigger and Bigger Kill streaks now get more and more coins.
  • Multikill Coin Adjustment - Multi kills now give an extra base coin.
  • Sneaking Removal - Sneaking is now no longer possible, no more hiding!
Major Bug Fixes
  • Firework effects now always show properly when killing an opponent
  • Torches/trapdoors/signs/tall grass no longer obstruct shots
  • Getting multi-kills with Budder Slapper and BBT gives different message
    • “Double Slap” or “Double Bazinga” instead of “Double Kill” for example
  • Plus other assorted small bug fixes.

Mega Walls Update

The long-awaited Mega Walls update has arrived!

New Map!
Hades is a new Mega Walls map with some new features, most notably Obsidian is unbreakable!
We’ll be keeping an eye on player feedback for this particularly challenging map.

Serpents has been retired to the Map Vault. It may make a reappearance in the future but for now, farewell

Custom Health Potions
We have changed how Health Potions (Health Pots) work!
Most classes keep their standard Health Pots (8 ♥), however some classes have a unique Health Pot

Herobrine - 2 Health Pots, each healing 6 ♥
Zombie - 10 ♥
Pigman - 10 ♥

You can view the healing power of your Health Pots through the description in the shop or the potion name in game.

Tornado rework
Apart from that, Shaman’s tornado has been entirely reworked.
Previous issues with the tornado not dealing damage to enemies have been fixed.
It also now removes all blocks in its way (travelling 5 blocks, 6 blocks height).
It does not remove protected blocks or bedrock, but it will still deal damage if used there!
Additionally it now consists entirely of particles, so hit detection issues will not happen anymore!

Enderman Teleport rework
The teleport skill from Enderman has been reworked!
You’re now able to teleport upwards and downwards within your upgraded range (up to 25 blocks). Use this to your advantage when engaging Skybasers!

Speed issues
There have been a few issues lately concerning speed buffs. From now on, you will always keep the highest speed amplifier (e.g. Speed 3 > Speed 2) when you receive speed buffs from different sources.
In the case both amplifiers are equal, the first buff received will stay.

Enderchest
The long awaited Enderchest has now been added! You can purchase it for each individual class, with a price of 10,000 coins for regular classes and 15,000 coins for hero classes.

Every time you spawn you will receive a placeable Enderchest in your inventory. Once placed, everyone else who purchased the Enderchest perk can use it. It works just like any other Enderchest you encounter in vanilla Minecraft! Teammates are not able to destroy it, but beware - enemies can! Every time you respawn your previously placed Enderchest will disappear.

It cannot be destroyed by Class Abilities (for example Tornado), and when you final kill an opponent - he drops his entire enderchest contents!

General Chest Changes
Apart from the Enderchest we also changed general chests. We removed some items (Stone Sword, Wooden Axe, Torches, Redstone Torches and raw beef) and increased the chance for other items. You will now find less chests after the walls have fallen. Chests in Deathmatch have been completely removed.

Class balances and Class fixes
  • Zombie
    • Kit 8 now gives an Iron Chestplate (Prot 2), 3 Steak, an Iron Sword, a Health Potion (10 ♥) and 2 Speed Potions.
    • Kit 9 now gives a Health Potion which heals 10 ♥.
  • Herobrine
    • Now receives 20 EPH.
    • Kit 8 and 9 now give 2 Health Potions (6 ♥).
    • Its alternate skill effect cannot damage / knockback people anymore.
  • Pigman
    • Now receives 10 EPH.
    • Valor now gives Regeneration 1 to the Pigman, as well as Regeneration 1 and Resistance 1 to all nearby teammates.
    • Gathering Talent is buffed from 10-69% to 30-100%.
    • You cannot find Chestplates in chests anymore.
    • Health Potion on kit 8 and 9 now heals 10 ♥ instead of 8.
    • Bubble now deals 1-3hp per second.
  • Dreadlord
    • Now receives 12 EPH.
    • The radius of the explosion from the skulls was significantly nerfed from 10 to 3 blocks.
    • Strength from Soul Eater lasts one second less than the Regeneration (6s of Regen and 5s of Strength at level 9).
    • Now receives Energy from bow hits.
  • Creeper
    • Willpower now has a cooldown of 15 seconds instead of 25.
    • Detonate range buffed from -50 to 5, damage over range buffed also.
  • Enderman
    • Now receives 20 EPH.
    • Now is able to teleport vertically (up to 25 blocks).
    • Enderchest skill issues have been fixed (Potion duplicating, Diamonds disappear, worn armor moves to the inventory).
    • Now loses respawn buffs (Strength 2 and Resistance 3) on using the Teleport.
  • Skeleton
    • Kit 8 and 9 now receives an Iron Axe (Unbreaking 1, Efficiency 1).
    • Agile now gives Regeneration 1 instead of Regeneration 2.
  • Shaman
    • Gathering Talent now drops Coal (aka Coal Ingots) instead of Coal Ores.
    • Heroism now has a 17% chance to activate instead of 13%.
    • Kit 7 now receives only 1 Health Potion (8 ♥) instead of 2. Kit 8 and 9 keep 2 Health Potions (8 ♥).
    • Tornado rework
      • More reliable now, fixed the bug when it sometimes did not deal damage
      • Even works in protect areas
      • Made out of particles, so no hitbox blocking, no “invincibility” in Tornadoes anymore
      • Moves 1 block per second and removes every block in the way (6 blocks height) except bedrock and protected blocks
  • Arcanist
    • Beam width is doubled, so it is much easier to hit now.
  • Golem
    • Iron Punch changed to deal 4-8hp damage(not affected by armor).
    • Iron Heart now gives Absorption 2 (+4 ♥) for 2-12 seconds on kill.
  • Blaze
    • Now receives 5 EPS.
    • Fire Arrow now applies Slowness 2 to the enemy instead of 1.
    • Fire Arrow now has a 10-30% chance to activate.
    • Gathering Talent now works in Deathmatch (15 seconds cooldown).
    • Fireballs now deal up to 4.6 damage instead of 4.4.
    • Time between Fireballs for the ability has been decreased by 50%.
    • Spawned Blazes (Call of the Blazes) now shoot a fireball every 3 seconds, dealing 4hp damage (armor affected). Additionally the aim is improved now.
  • Spider
    • Now receives 7 EPS.
    • Now gets Absorption 1 (+2 ♥) after using the Leap.
    • Leap now applies Slowness for 4 seconds instead of 3.
    • Range of the Leap is increased by 1 block.
    • Drop shock now deals 300% of the taken fall damage to enemies instead of 200%.
    • Drop Shock damage is now true.
    • Drop Shock now also works if both players stay on slabs.
    • Maximum dealt damage is now capped from 13-21 (depending on the upgrades) instead of 14-23.
    • Now get Iron ingots from Dirt, Gravel, Sand, Grass Blocks and Mycelium.
    • We know some of our players struggle with OCD issues, so we actually put a lot of effort into an important, game-affecting change: We corrected the spelling mistake in the shop, describing Spider’s Gathering Talent. Mycellium has been changed to Mycelium, allowing affected players to properly play again, without being too distracted by the misspelling.
General changes
  • Jimmy was improved (giving coins on kill, dropping inventory on death, cannot be teamkilled, do not take damage in preparation phase, provides energy on hit, etc.).
  • Castle Protection on Dragonkeep (Blue Team) is fixed.
  • "Withers are no longer enraged" does not show anymore at 40:00 if all withers are already dead.
  • You can now use your compass while standing on a pressure plate.
  • Draws do not spam the chat anymore and give a reward summary. You cannot kill people after the draw message anymore.
  • Endermen cannot teleport anymore before the walls fall.
  • You cannot use your teleport / wrath on a player that is dead. Creeper’s Detonate does not apply damage to dead players anymore.
  • Issues with overwritten speed effects have been reduced to a minimum. (Read the introduction for more information.)
  • Skeleton’s Salvaging arrow duplicating bug is fixed.
  • The Wither skulls from your own Wither now do not knock you back anymore.
  • Health potions now show you how many ♥ (hearts) they will heal, ingame and in the shop!
  • You can now travel 6 blocks higher than the build limit, fixing issues with being hit in the travel limit and not being able to fight properly. This also prevents false no knockback accusations. We hope this change enhances your lives and well-being.
  • The order of kit items when spawning is now more consistent.
  • Strength buff on respawning now lasts for 7 seconds instead of 10.
  • Coins for Wither rushing have been increased to 1 coin per 1 damage.
  • Range for defensive kills has been doubled to 30 blocks.
  • Enderchest has been added to the shop for 10,000 coins (regular classes) and 15,000 coins (hero classes).
  • /kill cooldown has been decreased from 5 minutes to 1 minute.
  • Players get hunger effect in deathmatch if they are lower than 32 blocks or higher than 59 blocks.
