**Cancelled 28 minutes before arrival — left us completely stranded**

I booked a barman through HireABarman.ie on 3 September 2026 for a special birthday party at my home on Saturday, 19 September and paid my deposit immediately.

At 10:19 am on the day of the party, I received confirmation from the company that everything was still on track for the 7 pm booking. I replied confirming.

The barman then cancelled at 6:32 pm — just 28 minutes before he was due to arrive — citing babysitting issues.

By 7:10pm with a house about to be full of guests, I discovered the cancellation email. I immediately tried repeatedly to contact HireABarman.ie, but could not get through to anyone who could help.

This is where I feel the company seriously failed in its responsibility to its customer. I booked the service through them, not directly with the barman. If their barman could no longer fulfil the booking, I expected the company to either arrange a replacement or, at the very least, contact me directly and explain the situation. They had both my phone number and my husband’s.

Instead, I was left to deal with the situation myself, with virtually no notice and no realistic chance of finding a replacement for an important birthday celebration.

And the most disappointing part. As of Monday, 21 September at 1:10pm nobody from HireABarman.ie has contacted me. No phone call, I got my deposit back but No apology, No explanation. No attempt to resolve the situation.

I appreciate that genuine emergencies can happen. What I find unacceptable is the lack of communication, the extremely late cancellation, and the complete lack of follow-up afterwards.

When you book and pay a company to provide a service for an important occasion, you expect them to take responsibility when something goes wrong.

**I would not book through HireABarman.ie again and would strongly urge anyone considering using them to think carefully about how their booking would be handled if something went wrong**

We had a really great with Dan and his team. We emailed outlining our requirement and he got back to us very quickly even clarifying that we didn't need to hire more than we needed. Staff arrived bang on time and were really professional and even stayed a bit longer than needed to wrap up. We had a seperate pizza truck at our event and they went that but further and helped gather the left over pizza boxes. Our first time having Bar staff at our house and it went brilliantly.

We booked a mobile bar and cocktail making service for a party we held in our home and we were so delighted with the experience. The cocktails were really well made, looked and tasted brilliant. The staff were super friendly and helpful. One of the barmen kept making sure our guests were served and took away used glasses. It was better than we were expecting and took our evening to the next level. I actually don't know how we will ever now have a party without using this service!!! We have been spoiled :)
Would highly recommend and would book again for sure!!!

We booked a bartender for the afternoon of August 16th for a family gathering at our home. It was a seamless experience from first contact with Dan to the arrival of Sean at the appointed time. We opted to supply our own drinks and Sean was so efficient and pleasant in dealing with all age groups at the event. When rain (!) forced us indoors Sean helped to sort out the chaos.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Hire a Barman.

We had Sean and Hussain for our party. The two lads were unbelievable, they made the party. They interacted with all the guest making sure everyone had drinks. They worked behind the scene cleaning and making sure things ran smoothly. Both lads are a credit to the company. We will definitely use them again. Thank you so much.

I can't recommend this company highly enough. We were 10 days out from a hen night that had been cancelled at a different location and had to start to rearrange our whole night from scratch. They came to our rescue at the last minute with their mobile cocktail making class for *18 - direct to the lodges that we were staying at. From the initial contact with Dan, their communication was 10/10 at every step of the way. We picked 3 of 7 cocktails for our event and each one more delicious than the previous one. Jose was our bar man for the evening and he entertained us soooo well throughout. (Tom Cruise wasn't even as good!). He arrived with all supplies, equipment, ingredients, glasses etc. We honestly giggled and danced through the whole event. He made the bride feel extra special and also took time to look after her very pregnant friend with non alcoholic options. I would have no hesitation to recommend. We priced similar events elsewhere who were quoting much more than them. I hope to be able to use them again.

At first I was a little bit unsure of what to expect from the bar staff, but from the moment they arrived right up until the left,they couldn't have been more helpful - everything went perfect and id happily recommend to anyone!

Our experience with Hire a Barman was excellent from the very first interaction right through to the event itself. Dan was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process, offering plenty of options to suit our event and being extremely accommodating with our last-minute changes.

We hired two bar staff and one waiting staff member, and we were genuinely blown away by the service. I expected them to do a great job, but they went far beyond simply serving drinks—they became a real part of the event and contributed hugely to making the night such a success.

From our initial query to hire bar tenders, Hire A Barman Ireland were so professional and helpful. Dan & Remy were always quick to respond by email & phone and sent excellent cocktail menu choices, shopping list etc before our event. We were told the bar tenders names in advance and all details of directions etc were checked by them in advance.

On the day, Sean & Husain arrived ahead of time, very well presented and straight away got the bar set up. They followed our requests regarding wine/cocktails etc and looked after our guests (40 people) so well. They were friendly, attentive and so helpful all evening. As the event was still in full flow, an hour before they were due to finish, they flagged it to me - which was really helpful. I had totally lost track of time. They arranged to stay an extra hour, which meant we could relax and let people continue to enjoy themselves. They cleaned & tidied everything before leaving and left drinks ready for the late stayers.

Having worked in hospitality myself for years, the five star standard of service & experience is evident.

It was my fist time to work with Hire a Barman Ireland and I certainly will again and would happily recommend them for private events.

We used Hire a barman Irleand for a Christening in our house and we found them to be very professional and helpful. They managed the drinks duties and cocktails exceptinoally well and I would highly recommend them.

Jose turned up on time, made great cocktails, had the craic with our guests & left the place spotless when leaving. Highly recommended.

We had such a lovely experience with Hire a Barman, right off the bat they were extremely helpful with planning our home event. The Bar set up was fab and our bar staff Marco and Emma were so lovely. 😊Everyone complimented the cocktails, they were done to a really high standard. I had Sean bartend for my sisters baby shower, he mixed a wide range of cocktails & alcohol free cocktails. He was warm & chatty & a pleasure to have at the event, I would highly recommend this service to my friends & family & look forward to using them again for our next special occasion.

Sean was an amazing waiter/barman. He was able to do everything, was excellently organised and brilliant with the guests. Our day was so much more manageable and enjoyable because of him. Punctual, professional and a nicer person. A very reliable service.

We booked a mixologist for an at home hen party (20 guests) and we had Lorna for the evening. She was lovely - arrived on time and so personable and chatty with everyone. She made 3 cocktails that catered to all tastes and our guests loved it.

We hired a bartender for a birthday party at home. Everything was great! Michael was very professional, polite. He made delish cocktails! Arrived on time and had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend these guys .

From the very first point of contact, Dan was responsive and informative. Our barman arrived on time, worked hard throughout, and even helped clear food plates—something that wasn’t required but was very much appreciated. He was a fantastic addition to the event, allowing us to relax, chat, and fully enjoy ourselves. I would highly recommend this service and will definitely use it again.
