Thursday Sew and Bird Update

The baby robins have flown the nest.  Thursday when we went to sew the nest was empty.  We have enjoyed these last few weeks watching them grow and now they have taken flight.  It has been so interesting to watch Mother Nature in action.

Here are the four center blocks of my"It's Chic to be Shabby". They came out pretty good.

This is a picture of what the quilt is to look like. Don't forget this quilt was started in 2002.  Thursday, I worked on the arches that go around the center blocks.  I did go through some of my antique fabrics and am  using them in the arches. Sixteen arches were made to fit the blocks.

Thursday evening as I watched the start of the final season of Burn Notice and the new Graceland, I was able to applique 10 of the arches down. Only 6 more to go.
The baby mourning doves are still here.  The two babies do stay together.  This morning Mom  was on hand to feed the kids.

I have never seen anything like this.  She is still feeding them.  The two babies stay together.   They appear to be full grown, but do not have the skills of an adult yet. The excitement of the two babies to be fed by Mom was amazing.  Again, Mother Nature at work.
Have a great day.

Sewing again

Thursday I worked on these needle books.  I had the embroidery done for 2 of them. Now to start putting them together.

Two blocks, one for Isabelle, and one for me.

Mom and Dad have come to visit.  He stood guard while she ate.  I wonder if she will nest in my garden again.

Can't you just smell the lilacs??
One of my" little" gardens.  I have four small beds like this one.  I pack as many flowers as I can in them.  I love flowers. Can't you tell by all the pictures I take of them!!

Happy quilting, and have a great weekend.

Presents, I got presents

Look what I received in the mail! Beautiful pieces of French Provencal fabrics. My friend Isabelle from France sent them to me along with 7 Klosjes that she made for me, for my quilt. These are beautiful. They are going to be a wonderful addition to my quilt. I have over 350 blocks done. I did not make as many on the trip as I planned. But have been making up for it since I have been home.
And, I finished the 12 present blocks I made for the Christmas block exchange. They are done and in the mail. It is nice to have one project off my list. I just hope they will be ok. Me and the quarter inch sometimes have a hard time.

Next project is to make the last block of my Farmers Wife quilt, finish adding the remaining blocks to the top, and put the borders on. I'm going to work on it tomorrow at the Thursday sew day at the quilt shop.

Christmas blocks

Look what I am working on!! I am in a Christmas block exchange with Aunt Petty Pat and have 12 presents blocks to make. Today I got five of them done. I have the packages made, now to work on the bows for the rest of the presents. It feels good to be sewing again.Yesturday, I picked up two quilts I had quilted while I was gone. Just have to put the binding on now. One is the Carolina Christmas from Bonnie Hunters site, and the other is the sampler style from Moose on the Front Porch site. (The brown and turquoise Japanese fabric quilt.)

Also, made more signature blocks for Annelies, International Siggie Swap. I really love swapping the siggie blocks. It is interesting receiving them from quilters from around the world. We all have at least one thing in common, QUILTING!!
