How does the game fit the theme?
Dogs love their biscuits. More accurately, dogs love to eat. This game is about dogs stealing food to fill their bellies. Don't get caught! It's a risk they all take.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Models (credited in description). Music (credited in description). Some animations (credited in description). Used GC2 for the first time. This was my "tutorial" project. Big adjustment from C#. Still couldn't do everything I wanted to with it, so I reverted to coding my own stuff for several things.
How many people worked on the game?1

I loved that you can choose your dog he he he, nice gameplay and game loop!
I like how you can choose a doggy! Really cute. Also the music is really cool and dramatic. I was laughing when I ended up having so many people run after me, but once I came out of the cave, they were still after me, so I've decided to check what happens if they get u... And I guess I made a couple of friends because they were just looking at me xD
After stealing some food I didn't know what to do so I left the game, I must've missed something.
The game kinda reminded me of my childhod games where you'd play as a mouse and also steal food and other stuff to survive :D
Lol... Yeah, the "friendship" bug is known and fixed in the version I am going to upload after the jam. It was an over-correction to the "I'm going to stand on you when you're dead" bug. There's five total pieces scattered around the board. When you get all five, the game ends with your time taken.
Appreciate you playing it and giving me bug feedback!
Interesting game, ofc I had to choose the corgi xD The concept was nice, would have been cool if the dog could risk it by getting more food at once and maybe slowing down with the weight. I think the game has a great concept with a lot of potential to be continued and expanded upon. Well done!
It's a game jam, and after playing yours, I know there were probably several things you wanted to add. I certainly had a few. But that's what seven days looks like. Appreciate you taking the time to play it and giving feedback!
Love the theme! I like that everything is calm until the dog steals food and then you have the whole town looking for you, also the dog animations are very cute :)
The only thing I noted is sometimes the chase music wouldn't play while being chased.
Yeah, that's a known bug that will be fixed in the post-jam upload. Also made the camera adjustable for that version as well. Thanks for reporting the bug and for playing!
very great aesthetic and ambiance. I really see the potential this game could have, if you wanted to develop it further.
I fixed the camera issue people didn't like and am searching for one elusive bug. Will upload a postmortem version and then call it a day. Thanks for playing and giving some feedback. It's always appreciated.
A charming game that's incredibly atmospheric thanks to the music, but also heartbreaking for me due to my feelings about hungry pets. It tackles an important theme with excellent adherence to the jam's concept. The part where they beat the dog while battle music plays absolutely brought me to tears, and there's this unsettling horror effect where NPCs keep lurking even after you've eaten the stolen food :)
I really like the music! The camera has some issues, sometimes I hear 2 songs at the same time when the dog steals food (or maybe it's just me?), but for a solo developer you did a fantastic job. Well done!
Camera is fixed in the version I have ready to upload after the jam ends. Or at least I think it is. You can use the current camera or switch to a top down view. The two songs bug is elusive. I have gone through everything several times and can't find it yet. I'll keep looking. Thanks for playing!
The game turned out very beautiful and cute!
It’s a cute little game that really fits the theme! I enjoyed playing it. The structure of having an animal as the protagonist and humans as the enemies is always interesting.
Good game about stealing food with some doges. I like the graphics and the music, wish the camera could be controlled and that you could bark :) Good job !
Thanks for playing! Camera is at the top of the list to refine. That deadline got too close too quickly. Working on it now for a postmortem upload. Now I am wondering if I could incorporate a bark mechanic... On a side note, just played your game. Good stuff!
Great game, especially for made by one person! Good controls, and I like how the challenge ramped up a bit with each consecutive stolen food item as more people are out to get you haha I loved the music though I felt it was intended for the most touching moment of a very emotional story rather than a game about a dog stealing food. Cute art style and animations. Well done!
I'm glad you caught the challenge of winning means you have a mob chasing you. That's the only way I could realistically add to the difficulty without adding some sort of god mode to the villagers. I went for that music because I wanted the dog to be in its own world and not really listening to all the humans doing their things. I appreciate you taking the time to play and give feedback. Thanks!
Haha got it! That makes sense XD
The idea of a dog stealing food is great, and the music is amazing! Just something about the character controller felt a bit off. I think the dog mesh is not centered on the character component itself, so when you rotate, the whole dog slides around the center point of the component instead of just rotating its body in the desired direction. Other than that, it was really cute. good job!
Yeah, the character controller could certainly use some refinement. With a seven day deadline, sometimes you have to accept "good enough", and that's what I did. I was happy enough to get the game loop completed. I appreciate the feedback and your time in downloading and playing my game. Thanks!
The background music is really beautiful, and the dog models are great! It would be nice to add shadows to make the scene feel more complete, and also have camera rotation
Not enough time to get the camera how I wanted it. It's down low so the models look better. Wanted to have a zoom out mode where it goes up a bit and over the player for a top down feel. Omitting shadows was a design choice. The dog models look so good because they are unlit. No shadows for them. Adding shadows to them makes their low polys stand out and they just don't pop. I went back and forth for a few days and decided to go with how it is now. Thanks for checking it out. It's appreciated!
This was a great game, and I loved the option to choose what dog you play as (I just really like dogs). I do think the game would be a lot better if the player could control the camera or if it automatically pointed in the direction the player was facing. It's very easy to die if one of the people come at you from the front, and you can't see them.
Yeah, the camera was on the list to make a zoom out function to go higher up and more of a top down look, but that deadline wasn't going to let me finish it. I have been working on it in the meantime. Probably upload a fixed edition after the jam. Thanks for playing!
music give me chills, also artstyle is very beatiful, good job on this one
The level looks great and is fun to explore. It's really funny to take the townspeople's stuff. The battle song does a good job feeling the danger.
Reading comments below, I agree that the game would be improved if there were objectives, like "get a wheel of cheese".
I love the dog! 🥺 He’s so cute when he’s eating and running. Just one thing — the chase music is a bit intense and gave me a jump haha, but being chased is definitely thrillingXD
great visual, I'm a quadrober :D
What a peaceful game. I love the whole vibe of it. I think one thing that could elevate the feeling of freedom in this game is to make the camera dynamically point to where the dog is running. I would have loved to get a better view of the map, and generally where I am running towards. Great game!
Getting the camera perfect was on the to do list but there was no way I could get it done before the submission deadline. It works enough to play, but isn't quite ideal. Thanks for playing!
