How does the game fit the theme?
By making the player choose between a buff and a debuff using a "would you rather" dynamic.
The choices that the enigmatic character of the jester offers you, provides the cookie (the bonus) that you are aiming to risk (the debuff) to crawl the dungeon and enact revenge as a resurrected chess piece.

Great take to the theme! the attack by the clown seems hard to dodge. but still great fun!
The game is really cool. The visual and audio also match the game very well.
game looks great, but it need some more mechanics and stuff. overall - very good
Everything looked and felt amazing! I cannot give enough praise to the art and the sound design! The game is pretty good too, great enemy variety and buffs/debuffs. I was a bit surprised by the shooting because I was expecting a projectile mechanism, but I got over that pretty quickly. Sometimes, I wasn't sure about the exact location for collectibles, so I'd miss them when trying to take them. Perhaps putting shadows might help (pardon me if it's already there and I'm just blind.) There were a few clipping issues when I got to the edges, otherwise the game was amazing!
Very cool! I was extremely surprised by how well done everything looks and feels! Really cool job with the animations and destructible objects! However, the enemy pawns are very hard to kill! But not impossible :D
Really liked character design - it's like something from Alice Through the Looking Glass! Amazing!
Beat the game! Was a nice run, the best buff is the 20+ dmg :D helped me a lot
An indicator to show if dash is available would be nice and also would be nice if the bombs also hurt the enemies : ) good game! enjoyed!
I love the art style and the color pallet, the game definitly fits the them, and i loved the jester gambling mechanic and i have to say that this i by far the most unique and wild idea ive come across in this jam. how does one end up mixing stuff like jesters with chess and gambling and then adding in a perks system cause this game is really fun in idea and i would love to have seen and play more but sadly i am Unable to move on bast level 3 and after like 15 tries i just Rage quite XD
Still This was a great game and i really enjoyed it, even though it was quite difficult (probably skill issue on my part XD)
Rated 10/10 ( i was unable to find any bugs which was quite shocking for a jam game)

Visuals are top notch, bit to punishing for my taste, I would increase colliders for shooting, but overall really good job!
A very nice game! The visuals are great and the mechanics feel good. The enemies get very close to the player when it falls and respawns and almost always get a hit, which is quite unfair. A really good game overall, nicely done!

Very nice game! I really like the art style and how the whole thing is very chess-inspired. I think the would-you-rather aspect is a nice blend of RNG and strategy. Overall, great job!

Very challenging. Music definitely had a 007 feel to it. Graphics fit the game play although I am curious as to why the chess motif. It's sometimes hard to make a choice about stat based characteristics without knowing the underlying dynamics. For instance, is a 20 point damage boost for a reduced fire rate worth it? I have no idea aside form playing it and seeing if I can tell the difference. Health bars for the enemy could have let me know. there were time where enemies would just fly in next to me which really ramped up the difficulty.
For a seven day dev cycle, it's a solid entry. In a perfect world I would want to see the final product just to see where it leads.
Wow, the art is excellent! Music is also cool. Shooting feels a bit unresponsive, there is little feedback when hitting enemies, and getting hit. Overall this is great.

Cool concept and I love the 2.5D artstyle. Levels feel very cramped though and getting hit by the knight and then being knocked into the abyss instantly halves your hp which I think is kinda unfair.

have no idea why is this game not atleast top 10 on the jam. i like the visuals SO MUCH

I really liked the mix of 2D sprites and 3D models, and the dashing/jumping felt super satisfying! I just wish the gunshot had a trail to show where the bullet is going. Either way, this was a really fun game!

Very nice Paper Mario ish asthetic, 2.5ds are usually 2d games in 3d models, i think prince of persia sands of time on PSP, this one is paper sprites on 3d background (I guess 2.5 d could go both ways)
The animations are really smooth and look really good, I think it is a much better decision than 3d everything in this case.
I felt the holes in the levels to be annoying, maybe spike damage would be a better fit, the hole doesnt feel like a good challenge to me.
The precise shooting is a design choice but in top down view without projectile and direction it kind of feels odd or that my bullets are not going at the right place, something like spawning a spike would be a better logical fit than bullets for eg.
These are just minor nitpicks, I think your game is pretty cool and some adjustments would go a long way.
