I absolutely love how you leaned fully into the Bond theme
At first I had a moment of “Wait… are they really going to play Adele here?”
And then the lyrics hit - such a brilliant surprise! hahaha
Gameplay-wise, the way you tied the theme into mechanics like choosing between more time or more goal points is spot-on. It fits perfectly with the movement upgrades.
A well thought-out and cleverly executed game. Fantastic job!
The best comments are always late into the rating period, thank you so much for the kind review, it means so much to us <3
Really fun concept. Super easy to sink time into, love the fact that you recorded an Adele cover! Amazing, can't wait for the squeakuel: Jamster Bond in Thunderball
HAHAHAHAHA, okay, now I think we officially have to do it and call it that, I'm warning the rest of the team that this is happening thanks to you xD
(Also, thanks for the kind comment <3)
Amazing game!, the quality of voice, music, and graphics is really well done. The movement feels great and is really fun to play. But a grappling hook is really hard to use; maybe I just don't do well at it.
Thank you very much for your feedback, we're glad you appreciated our game! :)
The grappling hook might be a little difficult to control, but I assure you that once you get used to it, it's quite fun to just swing around :D
Wow, just wow.
where do I even begin?
First of all the production value put in this game is INSANE! voice acting, original soundtrack (kudos to the singer btw) and overall theme of the game is just awesome!
the theme is on point! you guys both managed implement the risk factor of the theme, and the literal meaning of it, and a fun and fitting way. bravo.
gameplay is super fun. almost no bugs (sometimes my camera would snap but its really not that noticeable).
would have loved for the spawning to act a little bit different each run. after my second or third playthrough, I found a pretty optimal way of getting like 60-70 biscuits, and since the spawning are identical (or really similar), I pretty much mastered that path and didn't really have a reason to try out the other paths/rooms.
But other then that, I really really enjoyed the game. one of the best out there. Very well done!
Thanks so much for your love in your comment, it warms our heart to read it <3
The small camera snap should happen the first time you pickup a cookie, the shader for the vanishing animation compiles and it can make your game freeze for a few frames, making it seem like it's laggy, yeah.
We have some dedicated spots where cookies can spawn, some flagged as easy, others as hard. The more you complete runs, the less easy cookies spawn, and the more hard cookies spawn, but I do agree with your sentiment, the code that generates them might make it too easy, BUT we wanted to err on the side of easier difficulty for a game jam to not punish people who will play for 3 minutes ^^'
Excellent game. Beautifully presented with great visuals and a great OST (awesome lyrics), the audio experience was really spot on. Loved the choice of font and the cleanliness of the UI. The adherence to the theme was five stars for sure. Biscuits, risk, cute hamsters, it's all there, and very obviously in the theme too (good for a game jam).
It did feel like it could be very replayable, as someone else mentioned, but I really struggled with the controls. I could not get to grips with the grapple hook, even though I did the tutorial where you were forced to do it to progress. Great job having a tutorial BTW! As a result I was never able to get off the ground reliably and I kept getting caught on the edges of bits of furniture or just not even managing to jump at all. This meant that I only managed to go for two rounds before the game ended. I tried three games but I just couldn't work out how to use the grappling hook properly.
Great job and my favourite so far. Just a shame that for me the enjoyment wasn't very high due to my skill issue with the controls.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such an extensive comment, it really means a lot to us! We're glad you appreciated so many sides of our game, everyone in the team was thrilled to read your review! :)
I understand what you mean, the hook's controls do take a while to get used to, and I think we just got used to it during development, and left it as we thought it was fine, but we have much more experience with it than new players. We want to add a beta test phase into our game jams but we've never managed to, for now ^^'
Excellent game. Loved the music and the controls. I also enjoyed unlocking more of the map as I upgraded my stats as well, which made the game very replayable!
Thank you for your nice comment! I might be mistaken, but I think the entire map is reachable with the base stats, but it's more or less difficult to do so for some tricky areas :D
Whoever sang the "Skyfall" cover deserves a praise, goated music.
Gameplay is fun, risking theme is very well executed. Sadly I only had Firefox in my system so I see a lot of overbloomed lights on the lasers which hinders my progress.
As far as the music is awesome, I don't think it fits the cute hamster grabbing biscuits much. Feels like a cute stealth music instead, but that's just my opinion XD.
I really enjoyed it and managed to reach 33 at the end after multiple tries. Good job!
Our vocalist and composer thank you :D
Yeah, unfortunately Firefox is lagging behind, in terms of web game implementation so we're sorry you had to go through that ^^'
Hey, you're a little over half way through, you're almost there! :D
Great theme! I really liked the layout and design of the house in the tutorial mission.
I had a hard time figuring out how to use the grappling hook practically to get up on shelves and stuff like that. But the gameplay and upgrade loop was nicely done.
Thank you very much!
Yeah, we know it takes some getting used to, to understand how to reach all the places, and the time limit doesn't help with that.
We're considering adding a "free roam" option as a post jam update, so maybe come back then to train, it's quite fun to swing around once you've got a hold of the controls :D
Free roam would be great for experimenting
at first i didn't really pay attention to the lyrics until it hit me. very cool game i wonder how big madamster is needing all those giant biscuits.
great job !
Thank you, glad you noticed our song's lyrics :D
You don't ask about a lady's size, come on, that's not chivalrous xD
Love the custom song! The controls could be a little better as for the grappling hook and the fall felt like it acelerated a bit quick but it was more working with the grappling hook that could use a bit more work! All n all good work! *this game was live reviewed here: twitch.tv/gratefulllyivory (will post vod after stream)
Genuinely the most fun I've had in a game jam submission yet, a really entertaining gameplay loop and the whole thing was hilarious. It had fleshed-out stats, a tutorial, a cover song specifically for this game jam which was the funniest thing ever, and it was generally a really well-made game for a gamejam. Great job!
Thank you so much for your appreciation, I assure you that we love your comment and it warmed our little hamster heart <3
The easiest 5 star audio rating ever. When the menu theme changed into the game theme smoothly I lost my mind, not only that but it was a cover specifically made for this game jam, wow. It is also incredible that the game had a complete settings menu, as well as a main menu and a well made tutorial. Incredible job. The only thing is that I think it isn't too obvious what things you are supposed to grapple from or how you are supposed to get into places, I also think 60 seconds is too little time to explore and come back at the same time. Regardless, incredible job.
Thank you so much for the kind review and comment, we're so glad that you enjoyed our game and its song :D
There are no indications on what you can grapple because you can grapple literally anything, even the ground! Pro tip: if you grapple the ground, it'll give you a slight speed boost ;)
Balancing the time was a hard task indeed, and we wanted to add a "free roam" option in the menu, to let the player explore the level however they like, and get used to how to reach certain places, but we didn't get enough time unfortunately :(
Oh wow, I don't know how I didn't realize this. I think I was looking at things that were too far away. I figured out I could grasp the ground, but couldn't figure out how to get to high places. Could definitely get the hang of it with more time. Great game guys
Your hook does have limited range, the crosshair turns yellow when whatever you're aiming at is within grappling range, it's white/slightly transparent otherwise.
We might add a post jam patch, and adding a free roam mode is on our checklist so stay tuned if you wanna try again the level without the time constraint!
Really fun game, the singer was amazing! At first I thought it was the actual sky fall song .😆 Grappling was fun, thought it took a little to get used to. But all in all, amazing Job. Will download and add to my play again collection. 🙌
On behalf of our vocalist: thank you so much!
There's indeed a bit of a learning curve, but once you get a hold of it, it's quite fun to just move around :D
Pretty fun game, love the grapple!
Thank you, glad you liked it!
I loved swinging around, collecting biscuits
... Aaaand now I got a new song stuck in my head.
We love it too :D
And we have the same song stuck in our heads for weeks now xD
Nice game and nice concept. kinda remind me of some old game.
Thank you for your comment! :)
nice game
Thank you :)
The amount of things you can do once you get a hang of the controls feels so good!
Thanks! That's exactly how we felt during development :D
hilarious that you did a biscuit themed 007 Skyfall cover. I REALLY liked the option to choose where extra biscuits go, that was cool. Nice job on the game!
Thank you so much! It was one of the first thing that was decided after we jokingly called the ball the Skyball xD
Glad you appreciated the decision you had to make about the extra biscuits!
Had a great time playing this! I've also been singing the soundtrack for the last hour, so thanks for the earworm (I mean it, it such a bop cover). Awesome job!
Thank you so much!
And can you even imagine for us?? It's been stuck in all our heads for an entire week T_T (not even mad tho)
