How does the game fit the theme?
To succeed in combat, you need to string tricks together to achieve more style and get more effects, however if you fail a single trick in a combo, you miss out on the rest of the combo and your style suffers due to diminishing returns. Also you're competing for the Great Biscuit, of course.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All fonts are google fonts. Everything else, code, art, music and sound effects were made from scratch during the jam.

This is a nice entry! I originally thought this was going to be a sports game, but it turns out to be a WarioWare-esque minigame game! Can't say I am not surprised. I really like the hand-drawn art style, and the characters are all very cute and lovely. The minigames were nicely done, and I love the fact that you can mix and match them to gain a higher score! The game is generally really enjoyable, and I had fun until the end of the game. The main issue I am having is that the four original opponents felt like padding, and I would prefer the game start with the "masters" instead. Or you can have all characters teach one new trick, and that would be perfect. But I guess there are time concerns so that's that...

For some other criticism and suggestions, I think the animation played after the inputs is a bit long, and it gets repetitive halfway through the game. It would be best if the animations were played during the input instead of after them. I would also suggest showing how many points each trick provides clearly in the trick selection menu (something like +30 when you are hovering above a trick). Currently, it's a blind click spam and see which combination has the best points, and that felt awful. Speaking of the trick selection menu, it would also be nice to have the selected tricks highlighted if selected. It's quite hard to quickly determine which tricks are selected just by the text alone.

Anyway, this is suprisingly a very solid and fun game! Well done!

The artstyle and the gameplay were really fun! It's a very cute twist on the theme and I'd be happy to play something like this against a friend 😅

Fun way to make non-violent combat with minigames! Enjoyed this for a bit.

omg i love the music the style and the concept soooo much!! but it was just very hard to understand the controls even after reading through them multiple times, it was fun when i managed it but i was very confused as to what would stick and what wouldnt!

I really like the idea, but the controls were very hard and the circles turned red even though I clicked in them. The graphics and animation are amazing though, I really like the hand drawn style.

This game is absolutely impeccable in terms of concept, design, and visuals; it’s a perfect work in my heart. I really love the skateboarding moves and the effects presented. The only pity is that it’s a bit hard to get the hang of. I’ve tried so many times but keep failing (of course, I’m the same in real life). Additionally, the quality of the game’s animations is really high, and the characters are super cute. Spending a bit less time on animations and focusing more on gameplay might make it even better. I absolutely love this game

The styling and art are amazing, the music and sound effects are excellent, thank you so much for adding the training mode, it wasn't always possible to perform the trick the first time, so having a training mode is great. The mini-games are varied, it's very good.

I had fun playing this game! :)

I never thought in using the skate theme as this game does, I feel it’s very creative with a great execution, the minigames can be fun but after a while, maybe it can get a bit repetitive to do the basic 4 tricks and I think this depends on what route the player goes, I first did the 4 basic rivals so I didn’t learn any new trick for some time but I think this wouldn’t be much of a problem if I would mixed up with some pros here and there

The minigames variations are also great, I think my favorites are the rock to fakie and the frontside tricks and glad there is a practice room to see the tricks before any match, at the start it was a bit difficult because I didn’t click the area I should click to do the trick, I was clicking the screen instead of the area even if it had an icon next to it that indicated I needed to click the area haha, the spam space is ok and it’s good it don’t require a lot of effort. I think the only suggestion here is to make the yellow indicator a little more dark, it can get lost a bit easily with the white background when the area is small

The debuffs that rivals put on you are great but the only I didn’t like was the shaky legs because it says it will be difficult to do tricks that need the space bar but that shouldn’t mean impossible to do or if they are, indicate it straight. The others are good and would be good ones that force you to do an advance trick or any trick, in general, more punishing ones in late game would be great!

The gameplay overall is good, I wouldn’t mind playing a harder version of this, the late game feels a bit easy or I felt it that way because in 4 turns it was over. Also I feel there isn’t much point in using the advanced tricks, maybe I think that because the effects aren’t that important or special in some way, I know they do stuff but don’t feel they give that many points over the basic tricks, I still use them because it was fun, I could pull a combo with all the advanced and felt nice ^^

The art was great, I really like it, just I would like to see the rivals also do the tricks, I know it would be more work to do but that would be like the cherry on the top in the visuals haha, the music is great and it didn’t felt repetitive and in general, I really see myself playing more of this game, I really like it

Nice entry, happy to play this game and the little story was nice :)

Thank you, Rieux, for your incredibly in-depth review of the game. I'm glad you had a positive experience, and I recognize and appreciate your criticism. Keep on skating. :)

The art for the this is so good! The gameplay was pretty great too, I loved the way you stuck to the theme with the combo tricks. The wario-ware style minigame gameplay always feels good. Great work!

I love this game and the art is awesome! I wish that the skate battles were a little bit shorter, at least for the jam version of the game, to make it easier to experience all the content. Great job

Absolutely love the art! The mini games are challenging in a fun way.  It does start to get a bit repetitive, and the lack of music variation makes that more apparent. I think if different characters had their own music, that would be cool. Solid concept though, great job on your entry!
