How does the game fit the theme?
The whole game is built around risk and reward. As you climb higher, you can wager all the gems you’ve collected so far on reaching the next milestone. If you succeed, your gems are multiplied — if you fail, you lose everything. Every jump becomes a gamble, so the player is constantly deciding whether to play it safe or “risk it for the biscuit.”

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Everything except font, engine and some well known code libraries was made from scratch.

I had a good time and my old doodle jump skills came back in handy. I don’t think the energy mechanic felt very good. It was motivating I guess to upgrade but the other ones felt a lot more organic. I didn’t realize the number up top was the height at first so I kept refusing the bets early on, thinking “i have no idea how far 30m is and I know I’ll run out of energy eventually” - foolish mistake! Anyway this is aesthetically nice, plays well, just a really solid jam game. Good work!

Really addicting game with a cool concept. I could totally see this being available for mobile as a full game. Also the little effects when you jump and land on the platforms are *chef's kiss*

Very fun and addicting! Trying to get all the upgrades ended up quite satisfying! Would love to see an extended version of this with longer and more difficult stages (e.g. a 1000m level) or an endless mode.

This game is really awesome. I spent a lot of time on it, playing one round after another. The only pity is that the upgrade process is too short; I quickly reached the max level, and there are many gems with nowhere to spend. The graphics, controls, and design are all five-star. I really hope more content can be added

Developer

Thanks! I made the game pretty short deliberately, so other jammers won't waste too much time on it :) But of course I will probably tweak it to have much longer gameplay later.

Really great game! The upgrades all felt rewarding. The controls felt very smooth. The sound + art gave a nice retro vibe.

Nice and polished little game, had fun playing it.

Some thoughts:

  • Early on it always feels better to take risks since you don't have much to lose. It might be interesting if players had to risk not only session gems but also meta gems, might make the dynamic more engaging;
  • Later in the game, gems and some upgrades start to feel useless since you don't really need them anymore. Maybe if upgrades had to be purchased each session, gems would stay relevant throughout. Combined with the first point, that could make the risk/reward loop even stronger.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Overall, really good game.

Super great feedback. Thank you! I thought about both ideas, but eventually didn't have much time to playtest it enough to give them a go.

Ahoj :)

Nice and simple one, fun to play...
Sometimes it causes a heart attack in me.

It reminds me of Doodle Jump.
But this one is harder for sure :)

Very fun, my only critique would be I didn't like that one part of the tower requires you to jump on the spikes because I have been trained be every video game in existence that jumping on the spikes is a bad idea. But who wouldn't love a incremental doodle jump?

Developer(+1)

Haha yes :) That was maybe too much, but I wanted to give more use to that upgrade.

The visuals and gameplay are very enjoyable!

It's great that you can upgrade and place a bet.

Got me addicted to finishing it, I loved every aspect of the game and how it reminded me of that little doodle jump game :D

Fun little doodle-jump-esque game combined with an incremental game.  I do feel like there could be more incremental upgrades though, or some locked behind also hitting distance checkpoints so that the second half of the tower doesn't become pure grind if you already got all the upgrades while grinding the first half of the tower

Pretty impressive submission. The random level generation split up with prefab sections was very slick, and the upgrade system kept things engaging until the very end. I was hooked. Top notch!

What a fantastic game. The art is clean and quickly readable, sound effects on point, game responds nicely to interactions, great progression and enough variety in platform type/placement for the length. Prob my favorite in this jam so far. Played for like 20 min and beat it, very polished neat experience, good job!

The game looks really nice based off the images, but somehow it doesn't load past the loading screen for me, any advice?

Developer

It happened to me today too, no idea what’s happening. It worked perfectly fine yesterday. Will try to figure it out.

Developer

I guess I figured it out. It looks like shader warmup is causing this. I removed it and now it works fine. Please let me know if it is fixed for you too. Thanks!

Submitted

Yes, the game works now :)

Great, polished game btw

Developer

Awesome! Thanks again for reporting bug.

For sure! Glad it works now :)

You did a great job on the game's graphics! The black and white contrast in games like this creates a really nice atmosphere!!

Super fun! I enjoyed the sound effects and thought they worked really well. For me the lack of music helped build tension, especially during those risky wager intervals. On the visual side, I also appreciated the subtle things like how the player changes shape as they bounce to create a sense of movement.

I found myself with a ton of gems by the time I reached the end, but I assume that's intentional to avoid making things become too easy, and instead make reaching the top all the more satisfying?

Overall, great job!

Developer(+1)

A lot of gems till the end was a decision I made because of game jam. I didn't want to make people play for too long before getting everything :)

so addictive, and the visual style worked rly well, all felt super polished. wish there was music but otherwise no complaints :3

Wow this is really well done, love the minimalist visuals, and the gameplay is unique and addictive! 5/5 all round!
