Very interesting and ambitious idea! The scope of the level is impressive, and I liked how the visuals changed gradually with the state changes of the character. Also, very creative use of visual shaders and 2d sprites. I liked the little UI guy and his different animations.

With that said, the presentation felt a bit janky to me. Level is huge, but somewhat repetitive, and I rarely felt like the spaces made sense from a practical standpoint, which somewhat diminished the overall believability. I think it would have been better to make the ship smaller, but instead more detailed and polished. Also, text lines disappeared too quickly to me; I wish they would do that only on my input, so I can have some time to read them and ponder on the new information.

With that said, the work you've done is still very impressive! Great job.

Very creative concept for a game! Everything is so mysterious and beyond my comprehension, but so well executed. The visuals are also very pretty. The puzzles were simple enough, yet interesting, although it's clear that the focus is more on the choice making.

There were two issues I ran into while playing. First, the text before each choice disappears way to quickly and I often didn't get the chance to read it all the way through (I'm a slow reader). Having the player manually press a button to continue would be a nice feature. Second, the doors blend in with the walls way too much, making progressing kinda hard and made me miss the door that leads to the elevator for a good chunk of time. They really could use some design features that make them stand out more.

Also, the star puzzle in particular should give some kind of visual/audible cue or finish automatically when the player solves it correctly. I was messing around with it for so long before realizing I needed to press escape to complete it.

Apart from that, the game is very enjoyable to play! Fantastic work!

I absolutely adored the visuals and got the neutral ending. Level design could've been done better, but then it added to the trippy journey haha. Kudos!

Developer

Ty!

If you could elaborate on level design flaws that would help immensely

Submitted(+1)

It's a good game, needs more optimisation and polish on level design. I've been to the teleporter but didn't understand how to align stars. Would like to know more about the situation in this spatial vessel.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!

The star puzzle is definitely a little confusing but I'm glad you made it to there!

Really enjoyed HOLONIC — the visual and UI design immediately drew me in, and the mood/sanity mechanics added a smart psychological twist. The space station setting felt immersive and surreal. A little more clarity on some puzzles or navigation would elevate it further, but overall fantastic work! Rated + commented :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Couldn't agree more on the clarity of puzzle/navigation.

Glad the visuals and UI did a lot for you!

Oh, please, rate this new one game https://itch.io/jam/scream-jam-2025/rate/3962987 nobody rate this, everyone must go from one game to another to be a visible...

Ended up alone on the station at the end, but had fun getting there :D I think the graphics changes based on sanity were really nice!

Submitted(+2)

There seems to be quite a lot of effort put into this, but the level needs some polish, there's a lot of hole throughout the station, and character movement feels janky. I kinda got stuck at the big hallway for a while because I don't how to progress further, until I stumble upon a door that leads me to the elevator. It's quite hard to differentiate them from a wall, though. Also, sometimes, I didn't noticed that the meter is affected by my action, like when I touch the orange orb. I got a good ending, though, and quite enjoy it!

Very interesting jam entry, while definitely jank in some areas with the level and movement, that stuff can be excused due to the one-week time constraint. I found the game to be very surreal, and like others have said, having the environment be tied to your sanity is a pretty creative choice since it makes your decisions influence the world around you. But I will admit that I found myself getting stuck at the step "Observe the stars." After doing the teleportation stuff, I found myself getting kinda disoriented overall, so when they mentioned observing the stars, I thought that meant that it would be in a different room. This led me to run around a bit, unsure of what to do, before my insanity exploded upon interacting with  the orange orb of insanity. But despite all of that, I still think that this is a pretty good game entry! Good job, everyone who worked on Holonic, and great game!

Developer

Yeah the map is a little jenk and we hope to polish it a lot before future release.

Definitely hard agree with the orange orb.

The quest guiding could've been clearer!

Thanks for the feedback and playing!!!

Played through the game and got one ending, I thought the idea of the world changing as your sanity lowers was cool, but the choices you get after interacting with things feel underutilized

I think the lighting engine also bugged on me, the game was very bright and everything could be seen clearly even without the torch active, while the screenshots make the game seem darker

Clipped through the elevator the first time I went there tho

I got a little lost sometimes but manage to finish. I really liked the decisions you had to make when completing a task but wish they showed a more visual impact rather than just a meter changing. Hope the feedback helps. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Appreciate the feedback and can definitely see where you're coming from!

good notes for polish!

I got the neutral ending. I just wanted to be part of something vast 🥀🥀🥀

Developer

I would definitely encourage second playthrough and try to tank your sanity :P if you want that vastness

Ty for playing

I managed to get the good, bad, and neutral endings and I enjoyed what I played quite a bit! Like others said, the intro is very cool and I like how you give a status icon to show if you're on the right track. I also appreciate that you don't force the player through a cutscene so they can quickly retry the game and try other outcomes. One thing I was confused about was the orb. Since you can use it multiple times, it seems like it negates a lot the other choices that balance sanity drops with mood drops. Other than that, I liked the mystery you created and was reminded of games like Spirits of Xanadu.

Developer(+1)

Ooo thanks for playing.

The orb was definitely a weird decision and you are on point that it negates a lot of balancing behind the choices.
Ideally, players would use this as a "speedrun" to the good ending which might be antithetical to the game.

Appreciate the in depth feedback.

Looking forward to playing your game!!

Really liked the trippy surrealness of it for the otherwise sterile looking moonbase, made it very creepy!

I also got a neutral ending, didn't learn the truth sadge.

I do think some more visual/auditory feedback maybe nice, I almost died to the orb because I kept interacting with it. I may just be dumb though.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah, visual feedback was something we had plans for implementation but it came too down to the wire and had to prioritize other things. May continue iterating on it after the jam and see where it goes.

This might be the first game from this Jam I’ve played that was made with Unreal Engine! It runs really smoothly, great optimization. I love the in-game UI, especially the little character portrait on the bottom left, and the overall visuals look great too.

Here are some suggestions I’d like to share:

  1. In the first room, I’m not sure if it’s a bug, but the Ship AI keeps repeating the dialogue about “holding E to interact.”

  2. I think it’d be nice to have a mouse sensitivity setting.

  3. Some parts of the ship model seem slightly disconnected, so you can see gaps or parts of the outside scene through them.

  4. The choice system was a bit confusing at first. I didn’t understand what the options did until I realized they affect the heart and sanity stats.

Developer

Thanks for the in-depth review!

1. Added to bug log

2. Agreed

3. Yeah that is my bad as a level designer... rushed the last minute push so I didn't clean up everything.

4. Definitely not intuitive at first, I think adding a little bit of UI blink or sound confirmation could help clarity

Nice game! I love the ffects and the visuals with the little guy at the left. I got the neutral ending.

Developer

Ty!! Would encourage to play again and lose a little sanity :P. Maybe there's a good ending

Submitted(+1)

It may seem like a minor detail, but I liked having a dynamic title screen at the beginning. I also like the overall effect on the environment, which is a bit psychedelic. I often turned off my torch just to let myself be captivated by this effect around me.

I got the neutral ending, so I don’t know the truth yet… but wait until I start again…

Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Will try out your game now!

The UI is really well done, great job everyone!

Submitted(+1)

Interesting game premise :D I kept getting stuck in the mushroom area, not sure if you are supposed to be able to leave the room somehow?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing! Should be fixed or more obvious now. You may need to backaway and go back towards the door near the telescope.

Edit: Will play your entry when I get home tomorrow!

My bad, I was playing the earliest version, the latest version is much clearer 👍 The effects the different options have on the visuals are really cool :D

Great Game! really liked the puzzles.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you!

Edit: Will also play your entry when I get home tomorrow!
