i enjoyed this so much!! Everything was done so wonderfully and looked amazing, in every aspect of the word. I’m a sucker for a slow build, so this was perfect for me. I loved the sound design and how well integrated everything was!! I think im going to be revisiting this again so i can fully dissect the story and catch things i missed!! Amazing entry!!
What can I say... If it's not the winner of the jam, it's easily in the top 10.
When everything is polished, from the animation of the text appearing to the polished sound effects, not to mention the physics of the notebook and the tracks left in the snow (which are also useful for gameplay!
It's perhaps a tad too slow burn for my taste, especially if, like me, you miss a num once in every five times, but on the other hand, the build-up of tension wouldn't work without this lapse of time.
I don't know if I understood the whole story, but the emotions are there.
My only slight regret is that I can see there are more elements to discover, with the Morse code numbers and indecipherable calls, but you're too caught up in the atmosphere to want to spoil it by leaving the game to take screenshots.
In short, well done!
Such an amazing and polished game! Everything from sounds and chilling atmosphere to the stunning visual really got me hooked immediately. I love the concept of the phone booth a lot. Definitely kept me tense each minute I played.
It is unfortunate that I didn't see the warning about the soft lock when you enter the bedroom and got stuck. Sadly it happened again after restarting, but this time I couldn't do anything when I'm tasked with following the trail, despite avoiding the bedroom. It's such a bummer, I really want to see how it ends.
Even so, it was a very scary and awesome experience! I can't wait to play it again, once the soft lock is fixed!
Thanks for playing, I already fixed that soft lock and I just need to wait until the jam is over so I can upload it. But I'm a little concerned about the "despite avoiding the bedroom". Could you elaborate because as far as I'm aware the soft lock only happens when you're in the bedroom.
Nice! I'm excited to hop back in and finish it!
About your concern, perhaps I just missed something to progress further. I'll let you know once I play it again.
Wow, this was incredible. I got completely absorbed from the start ... the atmosphere is so thick and eerie, it honestly gave me chills. The phone calls, the weird little moments of silence, the whispers... it all felt straight out of a dream (or a nightmare). The surreal tone and the slow pacing were perfectly handled.
I did hit a soft lock once after the generator part, but it didn’t take away from how much I loved this. The visuals, the sound design, the notebook ... everything just clicked. I’d 100% play a longer version if you ever expand it. Amazing work!
I really appreciate your game, really beautiful, good tension, I wish I could finish it, actually I'm stuck when the generator comes down, I restart it, I go to the bedroom and close the door, and I try to sleep, but the character says that he has to restart the generator, and the door's bedroom won't open anymore. What should I do then? Turning On and Off the radio doesn't solve the situation too.
Yes, that is a known soft lock. Sometimes the door can still be opened after it gets slammed when it should be locked. Thanks for playing.
What a pitty! I want to know the end, so I should retry without closing the door? Or sould I close the door before turning on the generator?
You're supposed to stay away from the bedroom altogether once the generator is back on, I don't wanna spoil haha
This was a very polished game. The graphics, the sound design, the story, it had so much level in detail. You made an absolutely creepy game for the jam, and I applaud you for the amountof work put into
Thank you, I skipped gym and didn't see sunlight for a week straight for this 😭😭😭
I really liked the atmosphere, visuals, and sound. It's clear that the game is of high quality. I love horror games with a slow-paced gameplay. This is one of the best horror games on this jam
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the slow burn, I almost decided to make it only 2 days instead of 3
Really great game overall, I was on edge the whole time and some of the scares after the generator broke really got me. The general premise was also super interesting and I wanted to find any and all secrets to figure out what was going on. There was a bug my first time around where I was able to go back into the sleeping room and got stuck there after the generator broke, but that was fixed after restarting the game. I think honestly my only criticism is that there could be even more secrets hidden around, like if you explore outside or try to do different things early, but it is a game jam game, so this is already really impressive as is. Great work!
Thanks for playing, I wanted to add more secrets to the world but my sleep schedule was already messed up, so I only had time to add secret phone numbers. I will definitely add some more once the jam is over. And btw, did the bedroom door not slam when you encountered the bug? I've had reports of a similar issue but couldn't recreate it.
Yeah that's fair lol, that was kinda where I was at for my game too, all the base stuff was done but I wanted more secrets and hidden stuff. For the bug, the door did slam but for some reason I was still able to open it, then I went inside to hide but I wasn't able to interact with the door to leave. My second time around it all went like normal, I'm not sure what I did differently
Played about 50 games in this jam and this one is my personal favorite. Hard to see anything to improve. The first game I've given 5 stars across the board.
What an honor, I really appreciate it 🙏
Actually no, I am not chill with this game at all, and I mean by that it's getting under my skin so well that I felt like actually screaming. I'm not chill, this game is way too good. And like on top of it all, I'm enjoying the maddening decent, having bit hard time reading few of the lower numbers, I hear the whispers, I hear the giggles, I am processing the decent very well still, and then I turn on the radio. I turn on the goddamn radio, and the instant I hear the guitar riff, I'm standing in there just staring at it, it just had to be that song, I started not handling any of it anymore. Anyways, loved this, loved the surrealistic atmosphere or what you want to call it, goddamn the note book was already impressive enough. I was half convinced that when the setting sun was visible down in the bunker that it was just all as protocol, I was so locked in the immersion. Top tier for me.
Valid crashout tbh. Thanks for playing.
Very well made game! I liked the aesthetic very much!
That's... a great game right there.... Great atmosphere, and that gave me a spook. btw you should add some more context related to story. otherwise it's great
Well, that gave me a spook. I do wish there were more context clues about the story. Not sure what the child has to do with the radio towers.
realy cool game great atmosphere and a interesting story no complaints
The scariest game for me by far, about halfway through I noticed the sign that said "keep this door locked at all times" on the outside door, and realised that I fcked up... and then when I heard "psst" from somewhere behind me. Great atmosphere and visuals, sound design and ambience, I love how streamlined the gameplay is and the UX is great also. Keep up the good work!
I can’t believe this was made in just a week — that’s incredible!
It feels like such a perfectly polished game.
I especially loved how the font and visual effects matched so well when the dialogue subtitles appeared — it looked absolutely seamless.
Such a stylish and refined game!
Great visuals and audio combine with a mysterious, enigmatic setting to form a really compelling experience. I definitely jumped a couple of times while playing.
The actions the player is expected to perform are more or less intuitive based on the protagonist's situation.
Enjoyed the Prufrock lines. When the Dies Irae played, I knew what that meant.
A very polished game.
The design is really impressive. The atmosphere is also very good. <3
The game is really polished, and nailed all the aesthetic, both art and sound. It builds up tension really well, until I stuck in the bunker and don't know where to go next, and then the notepad tell me to follow the trail and then I can continue the story. I don't quite get the song and the telephone tower that appear at the end, though, but overall, this is great stuff!
Thanks for playing, I'm glad the log entry I added as a safeguard does it's job.
Another banger. This was an incredible, well-crafted experience from end-to-end. 5/5 across the board. My only feedback was that the post processing effects made the final few rows of phone numbers difficult (but not impossible) to read. Thanks for making and sharing this--this is a really special game!
Yeah the zoom feature was supposed to bring the notebook to the center of the screen but I didn't have enough time to implement it.
Anyway, I really appreciate the nice comment 🙏
