May, I hardly knew you

Image
I don't know where the month of May went, but she and I didn't get well-acquainted this year. Things are crazy and scattered at work, as I enter my busiest time of the year, and on a personal note, I'm scrambling to get things done at home before I fly out on Saturday morning to visit Mom. It's not as easy as simply packing a bag and hopping on a plane when you have a pet (or pets) with special needs, that's for sure. They'll be fine, the pet sitter is the one I like so much and trust the most. It's just the getting ready, assembling all the instructions, meds, food, etc. Anyway, it'll all work out...it is what it is, as my now-retired boss was fond of saying. So I'll spare you all the details and just do what I like to do anyway: post a lot of snapshots.   Duck pics from the 22nd. I'd taken the day off and this was at the bus stop, after my hair cut. (My stylist works out of her own home.) As always, I think the snapshots are be...

What better way to spend a holiday Monday?

This is the spare room on the outer side of the unit, across the hall from the guest room. I wanted to repaint it last year, to a neutral colour instead of the green, but didn't get to it. As of 1 PM EDT, I've got coat #2 done. I'm almost 100% sure it will need a third coat, or at the very least significant touch-ups. Life lesson #643: Unless you can hire professionals to come in and do the work for you, don't paint your walls anything other than the lightest shade on the paint chip, whatever the preferred colour. Otherwise you'll need a lot of paint to re-cover it! (Or unless you actually enjoy painting...which I most definitely, emphatically do not .) For those of you who have a holiday today as well, I hope you're doing something fun! Feel free to come over and help me finish up. Beer and cider in the fridge, not much in the way of food (other than fruit), but I know how to call or go online for take-out.  ;-) "Obligatory" pics of ...

Wordless Wednesday: Uh, is this a problem?

I'm starting to think that anyone who has this much "stuff" to donate 2 to 3 times per year just might have a shopping problem. Even if most clothing and houseware items are from thrift stores.  :-O Peace. (Comments are off.)

Long-winded update, lots of pics!

I see it's been almost a week since my last post. I haven't had to return to the dentist (knock on wood), though it's going to take quite a while (based on previous experience) for the pain to subside. At least it's not constant! Since then I've gotten orthotics, am trying them for the plantar fasciitis that's now affecting both feet. I know that not everyone has success with them, but I figured that, since we're covered for one pair per year, it's worth a shot. I had them years ago, for other issues. Pics below from a lunchtime walk last week. As always, all pics are better enlarged! Arthur, below, who is 10 weeks old (11 weeks now). What a cutie. He's already learned to sit on command, with the aid of treats of course. I was the queen of thrift store shopping this past weekend, with a Value Village run on Saturday and a Talize run on Sunday. I spent a lot, but I also got a lot, including two really nice lined spring/fal...
