The turkey-faced dog?

Image
I was on a bus this morning, heading from WalMart back to the mall transfer point, when we encountered this wild turkey. (Pics snapped with the cell phone, so a bit blurry.) Look closely, by the car. The bus driver told me the turkey has been there all morning, and every time he came around and slowed down, the turkey would start chasing the bus! Is he a dog-wanna be? LOL. I figure he must see the the bus as some sort of threat. Unless he just wants to hop on and go for a ride?  :-) Crazy bird. It was highly entertaining, though! And one of the passengers who got on at a stop near the turkey said he's been hanging out in the neighbourhood for the last three weeks. If he's not careful, he'll end up as someone's Thanksgiving* dinner. Ha. *Canadian Thanksgiving is Monday October 14th. Peace.

Rounding out a very long week

Morning sky today, Sep 20th. Happy Friday, all. My gosh, what a long, long, long week. It's status quo with Nicki, as I wait for a different antibiotic to come in. The first two (variations/flavours of flagyl) were a no-go for him, so we'll try Clavamox compounded into a chicken flavoured liquid. I hope he'll ingest it and tolerate it better than he did the flagyl. Meanwhile, he's been "off" yesterday and today, threw up the bit of breakfast he ate yesterday morning, all over the large entryway mat. The mat with grooves/ridges to catch the dirt from shoes. The one that now needs to be replaced in spite of being scrubbed three times yesterday. His full blood work panel came back with perfect results, spot on, so I don't know what his problem is. I do know that I'm sick and tired of cat health issues. This definitely has been my worst spring, summer, and early fall for ongoing pet problems, vet bills, etc. I'm exhausted and frankly, enou...

"Thank you for your business"

Finally I have an update on Nicki, who had his regular (plus output issues) vet appointment late this morning. Backing up, the output issues have been ongoing since early June, somewhat off and on, but definitely "on" since August 26th. Slippery elm wasn't doing the trick, and I started trying this food and that, which I'm sure didn't help. Eventually I had the bright idea to check the ingredients of the kibble they get (only a small bit, because they love kibble; most of their diet is canned). Well, I do know Nicki has a problem with potato, and somewhere along the way the dry I've been giving them has changed, it now has potato in its top five ingredients. Arrghh. I haven't bothered to check the bags I buy in a very long time, my mistake. And a caution to all, to periodically check your pet food ingredient list because we all know that companies change their food without alerting the public. I won't make that mistake again. I'm still ...

It certainly was "Labour Day" weekend

Image
The Labour Day holiday is supposed to be a rest from one's labours, but not in my case this year. Nicki in the garden at the end of August. No, this year I decided I'd better use the leftover gallon and a half of paint from May and redo the guest room, be done with it. So Saturday I ran around doing the usual post-payday errands (we get paid only once a month), and Sunday I put two coats of paint on the walls of the guest room, though only one coat in the tiny closet. Part of the mess after coat #1. Monday I headed out early for some groceries, then got back late in morning to clean the room as well as the entire upstairs, and put things back in order. I also rounded up a few boxes and bags of stuff for donation, got that hauled to the garage and pick-up scheduled for later this month. Tuesday I was home from work, having significantly aggravated a nerve in my back, which left me unable to sit or lie down comfortably. I'm better today (Wedne...
