- My Liquipedia statistics
- Global edit count
I am a Liquipedia editor and reviewer, active mostly on the esports side but I do some dabbling on the game side as well. I usually do a bit of everything, from match updates to transfer updates and small fixes, but I also work on player biographies and team histories when I can. I'm also interested in dabbling in the mathematical side of things, such as calculating the threshold for the ESL Pro Tour Leaderboard.
I was born in the UK, but moved to Malaysia when I was about 9, where I lived until I was 18. I then returned to the UK for University, studying Joint Mathematics and Computing at Imperial College (brag: I got First Class Honours), and I now live and work here.
I played DotA: Allstars as a teenager, and moved to Dota 2 at a later date. I've been following the Dota 2 professional scene on-and-off for several years, but in recent years, I started watching it more seriously.
I used to edit Wikipedia (my user page) years ago, so I know a bit about MediaWiki-based wikis. I started editing the Dota 2 Liquipedia site in 2022, and got promoted to editor after about a year of on-off editing. Most of my early work was to add biographies to players in the North American scene. Today, I still write long-form content, although I maintain smaller tournaments as well. I also edit a few other wikis on Fandom (spit), including non-Dota 2 ones.
I'm the fourth person (sixth including bots) to obtain the "Sleep is for the Weak" achievement (edit for 365 consecutive days) on the Dota 2 wiki. Editing Speeed got me that achievement. And since this achievement can be lost through a move, here it is, archived.
Me on other sites[edit]
Please note that I generally ignore DMs on any site, unless I believe you could be more useful outside of your initial question (e.g. if you are a prominent figure, social media manager, etc.). I strongly recommend asking in the #dota2 channel on the Liquipedia Discord server instead, so it can be noticed by all of our editors.
Tools[edit]
I have a number of Greasemonkey scripts to help editing here. This includes:
- Copy live match ID from Dotabuff to clipboard
- Show player IDs on Dotabuff match
- Show player IDs on FACEIT player profile
- Show player IDs on ChallengerMode player profile
- Export Dotabuff match to Liquipedia match format (useful when Valve's API is down)
Pages I wrote from scratch or expanded greatly[edit]
If you want me to write or expand someone's biography, get me interested in them first! I usually choose pages I find frustrating, or players I feel deserve a better page.
Consider this: It is nigh-on impossible for me to write an interesting article based on Dotabuff results. In fact, it also results in the team and player having similar content, which is extremely boring. If you are a player, in the words of SirActionSlacks: "This is why u do interviews lmao".
Teams[edit]
- Tundra Esports: History (originally on the main article)
- I wrote this as I felt that we might get mainstream coverage about Tundra Esports, and it would be good to summarise their journey to winning The International 2022.
- Yellow Submarine
- To complement Team Spirit, as this team was its ancestor.
- Creepwave
- One of the most underrated rosters today due to the strength of its alumni.
- B8
- The team of one of Dota's greatest legends, Dendi.
- Vikin.gg
- One of the "what ifs" of 2020, what could have been if there was no COVID-19 pandemic.
- Arkosh Gaming
- Still talked about to some degree, fondly, today.
- BOOM Esports
- Because it was getting a lot of attention after a solid performance in Elite League.
- Apex Genesis
- After this fantastic reflection was posted on Reddit.
Players[edit]
At one point, I was trying to get all the North America Division II players (who fit our Notability Guidelines) a proper biography, as I felt these were the players who needed it the most. Unfortunately, it turns out that Dotabuff has some aggressive throttling if you visit too many pages, so I couldn't do research at a reasonable rate, so I stopped.
Beyond that, in general, I'm more selective, and pick things I find interesting. Here's a few pages I spent a decent amount of time on:
- Skyward
- A fellow Sheepsticked Twitch sub who I think is a bit of an oddball.
- Lil_Nick
- NA's third next last hope (second is dnm).
- Jenkins
- He himself rewrote his article, but it was in Jenkins' own unique style (i.e. not the most professional), although the content was an improvement. So I instead rewrote and updated his biography in full.
- Gunnar
- Someone who has had one of the most interesting journeys in Dota (in my opinion).
- Faith_bian
- Before I expanded the article, his biography basically said "he retired". After approving an edit to note that he changed his username, I decided it wasn't right that one of Dota 2's finest players of all time didn't have information beyond his retirement.
- Mila
- As part of a larger project to revamp coverage of women's Dota.
- Yellow Submarine players
- Expecting them to eventually qualify to a major tournament at some point, I wrote something up for those wanting to know more about these players:
- Yatoro
- Mostly to integrate his trivia into a biography but also expanding on quite possibly the player with the highest peak performance of all time.
- fortniteMan
- For the memes
- Nisha
- For the memes (you can't have fortniteMan's page be longer than Nisha's, right? Right?)
- Insania
- Ditto
- Parker
- Because I predicted he'd have another "Parker" moment (i.e. HEROIC)
- Apex Genesis players
- After beating M80 — maybe there might be more interest in Apex Genesis?
- Handsken
- Integrating an interview with Mathmagician
- ponlo
- Integrating an interview with sayang.
- daze
- Integrating an interview by OG.
- dyrachyo
- After taking a career break.
Others[edit]
- Beyond The Summit
- I felt that with Beyond The Summit shutting down, it was important to document their history in its entirety, to tell future generations that we are building on the shoulders of Beyond The Summit.
- North American Dota Challengers League Season 6 Combine
- A unique style of drafting in an inhouse tournament for North America's biggest grassroots efforts.
- Korb3n and DKLana
- Two of the most successful managers of all time, and key parts in Team Spirit's success.
- Women's Dota 2
- After getting the nod from an employee, I wrote this (and released it on International Women's Day) to talk about the women's scene. It's safe to say much of this was gathered through research, rather than actual experience - so feel free to chip in.
