Tny is a little console. You know, these things with a screen and a controller where you play games? Right, so it’s that, but very basic. In fact, it’s so basic that the size of its screen is only 16 by 16 pixels, its controller only has arrow keys and two buttons and its game cartridge memory is 256 bytes maximum. One of the key obstacles that the GDS team is currently tackling is the lack of consistency in government when it comes to what a good form looks like. The team is currently exploring ways that they can give civil servants the tools they need to enable best practice and make it easy to create online, accessible forms. One area that GDS is currently looking to support best practice is autofill - a function that will allow the end user to move on to the next question as quickly and seamlessly as possible.
I’ve really come to appreciate that performance isn’t just some property of a tool independent from its functionality or its feature set. Performance — in particular, being notably fast — is a feature in and of its own right, which fundamentally alters how a tool is used and perceived.
We propose encoding a 16-bit string as a proquint of alternating consonants and vowels as follows. As a Jewish creator whose work is directly inspired by Jewish magic & mysticism, I’m asked all the time how I learned about these traditions - particularly by other Jews who grew up, as I did, without any awareness of this side of Judaism. As a queer, trans & disabled Jew, I’ve found that I connect most deeply with spiritual practices that have (both historically and currently) often been marginalized even within Jewish cultures.
Interaciion nets generalise Girard’s proof nets of linear logic and illustrate the advantage of an inte- grated logic approach, as opposed to the external one. In other words, we did not try to design a logic de- scribing the behaviour of some given computational system, but a programming language for which the type discipline is already (almost) a logic.
One of the relatively little-discussed phenomena in the social critique of AI is the fact that it is not only a centralizing technology, but also one that increases the distance between people and the power of the owners of the coordinating infrastructure. Of course, there is no direct determinism of the infrastructure, but it matters in which way the playing field is tilted.

Janet occupies a really valuable niche: it is a small, simple language that is actually usable. It has an elegant simplicity that you might associate with someone’s hobby project, but you can actually run it on Windows. It has built-in concurrency and multithreading, and it is an excellent language for text-wrangling, thanks to the native support for parsing expression grammars (think regular expressions, but better). It has a simple C FFI, so the package ecosystem is “all of them,” as long as you’re willing to write a few lines of binding code first. And thanks to the lightweight runtime, it’s very easy to use Janet as an embedded scripting language.

Files can imported and exported using drag and drop, and System 7 and onward have more advanced integrations as well – refer to the welcome screen in each machine for more details.
RetroV (pronounced “retro vee”) is a virtual DOM (VDOM) rendering library. It is “vanilla” JavaScript, browser-native, and has no dependencies or build system.

Sabbath mode is an important feature for the people who rely on it. It is also not a very well-known feature.The same parallel can be drawn for many assistive technology features. Every major operating system has multiple accessibility features built into them, but many of these features are obscure and only known by people who rely on them.
