The boys are suddenly right into poker then never play again for the next 16 seasons
The best episode of Season One. I loved this episode. I really really did.
At least its my personnal favorite, im a fan of Friends and a fan of poker and games. This was emotional, Funny, all you need ! Ross letting Rachel wins in the end, beautiful..
I can't agree with other reviews of this episode, for me it's one of my least favourites from what overall was a very strong first season of the show.
It has its moments, and there's some lovely interactions, but aside from them all playing poker not much really happens.

I have seen this episode so many times.
I recorded it on vhs 26 years ago when it first came out and i watched it so many times as a teenager.
It definitely holds up entertainment wise.
So many fun memorable lines.
Love it.
Not a 10...either a 9 or 8...hmmmmm. I think it lacks the depth I like for special episodes. It's all sitcomy on the surface stuff.
I'll go with 8.

- TriviaThe plot about the gang playing poker was inspired from the cast playing together on set.
- GoofsWhen Ross and Rachel are squaring off at the end, Rachel wins with Ross giving the appearance that he's thrown in his hand without revealing his cards. Joey and Chandler scramble to look at his hand as Ross tries to prevent them from doing so. However, moments before, Chandler and Joey are standing right behind Ross and clearly see what cards he has. Therefore, they would have known what cards Ross had.
- Alternate versionsIn some syndicated versions the scene where Aunt Iris teaches Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe how to play poker is cut out.
