A Giant Cat Holding a Churro

Yet another episode defining complete disaster. But one thing is still great! 'Hats off' to Jon Cryer (Alan Harper) for his stupendous efforts in saving this episode and the show from being a complete train-wreck. The 5 stars I've given here are all for his efforts. Even the director is trying to concentrate most of the show around Harper now rather than going after stupid and expressionless Walden Schmidt. Lorre very well knows, if people are watching the show, they look for 'Two and a Half Men' spirit, the remains of which are left only in supporting casts now. I've always liked Kutcher in movies, but I am amazed how could Chuck Lorre sign him for the lead role for this show. He is no good being a womanizer, no good at being childish and has no sexual appeal(even stripping didn't work for him in ep 9.1). His character is useless for the show's storyline. I think Chuck Lorre should have created a complete new character rather than a replacement of Charlie (So that people didn't compare). There is absolutely no comparison!!

Compared to last episode's painful, slow sit-through, this went by a bit quicker because I found myself enjoying the second half. The cold open where Walden and Alan discover Lnysdey's porn, while setting up the story, is painful to sit through as both characters are unbearably annoying and Alan acts completely out of character. I would have probably rated this a 7 had that been changed (hmm... maybe). Like last episode, Berta is easily the star of the show and is the funniest character. He dynamic with Walden this week was actually somewhat entertaining and I enjoyed the scene with the two of them baking and Alan acted perfectly normal in this situation. A bit of Two and a Half Men normalcy. I can only pray that this level of quality in the second half of this episode can be carried throughout the season to make it at least watchable.

I really, really think Chuck Lorre has some axes to grind with women. Except for Melissa, EVERY woman on this show is a selfish hypocrite. But Lyndsey seems to even top Judith.

Alan is the classic example of how men these days think they have to behave in order to be in a good relationship: Basically become a doormat and apologize for things the woman did wrong.

In this episode, Alan does NOTHING wrong and yet he is the one who has to run after this train-wreck of a soccer mom. Btw, given that she is at least around 45 in this episode, that'd make her 25 when she did her little movie. Didn't she say she did it to pay for (community) college?

If you want to spend 20 minutes of your life watching men talk about masturbating then Two and a Half men is for you. I don't want to do that so will not be watching again. The series has always been smutty yes and pretty much always got away with it, but this episode has sank to a depth you would hope it can recover from. As the other reviewer says, Jon Cryer is doing his best, but with this kind of storyline and script to work with you have to wonder how long he will do it for. Ashton Kutchner brings nothing to the show and plays his part like he's purely doing it for the cash (I'm not saying I wouldn't do the same if asked!) All in all the new series disappoints (and I am not a big Charlie fan). When you put this up against something like the Big Bang Theory, the superiority in the Bangs clever, witty writing makes the humour in Men seem like something off a toilet wall.
