 I think these little bats make cute Halloween decorations!

DK yarn

3.75mm or 4mm needles

2 small beads (optional)

Size:

Wingspan 5" 

 

Cast on 40sts

Row 1:  Knit

Row 2:  Knit

Row 3:  Kfb, k17, k2tog, k2tog, k16, kfb, k1

Row 4:  Kfb, k17, k2tog, k2tog, k16, kfb, k1

Row 5:  Kfb, k3, k2tog, k2tog, k2, k2tog, k2tog, k4, k2tog, k2tog, k4, k2tog, k2tog, k2, k2tog, k2tog, k2, kfb, k1 (32sts)

Row 6:  * K2, k2tog, k2tog, * repeat from * to * to last 2sts, k2     (22sts)

Knit 2 rows

Row 9:  K10, k2tog, k10      (21sts)

Row 10:  Cast off 7sts, knit to end

Row 11:  Cast off 7sts, knit to end            (7sts)

Row 12:  K2tog, k3, k2tog                            (5sts)

Row 13:  Knit

Row 14:  Kfb, k2, kfb, k1                               (7sts)

Knit 2 rows

Requirements:

 

Around 4g - 6g of orange yarn DK weight 

Tiny amount of green yarn

Length of black yarn for the face

3.5mm crochet hook

 

 

Size:

Around 4" 

 

 

Pattern:

This pattern is written in UK terminology      

 

tr = treble crochet      htr = half treble      dc = double crochet       ch = chain

 

 

Worked in the round

 

Chain 3, join with a slip stitch into a ring

 

Round 1:   Ch2, make 11tr into ring, slip stitch to join (12sts)

 

Round 2:   Ch2 then 1tr in same stitch as ch2, 2tr in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch (24sts)

 

Round 3:   Ch2 then 1tr in same stitch as ch2,  * 1tr in next stitch, 2tr in next stitch repeat from * all around,  join with slip stitch (36sts)

 

Round 4:   Ch2 then 1tr in same stitch as ch2,  * 1tr in next stitch, 1tr in next stitch , 2tr in next stitch repeat from * all around,  join with slip stitch (48sts)

 

Round 5:      Ch1 then 1dc in each stitch all around

Fasten off

 

 

For the Stalk ~ use green yarn and work 3ht at the top edge, turn, work 1htr in each stitch, turn, work 1htr in each stitch, turn, work 1htr in each stitch

Fasten off

Fold the stalk over and secure at the back (the stalk is double)

 

For the Face ~

Embroider on a face as desired (friendly or scarey! – you choose)

Little Witch's Hat

 What fun I have had today knitting these cute little witches' hats for a 

Halloween decoration!  

I thought maybe some of you might like to make them too.

You can use any yarn weight for these, with the appropriate needles.

The purple hat was knitted with DK yarn and 4mm needles, and measures 2½“ in height.

The black hat was knitted in UK Chunky weight yarn and 5.5mm needles, and measures 3¾”  in height.

They are so quick to make! 

 

Instructions:

Cast on 36sts

Knit 2 rows

K2tog across row                                            18sts

K3, *k2tog, k3, repeat from * to end                  15sts

These Pumpkin Hats are a 'must' for the little people in your life!  So sweet and cute. 

Pumpkin Hats      

Each hat requires:

DK yarn in orange, and a small amount of green for the stalk

4mm knitting needles

 

Tension / Gauge:

22sts = 4" (10cm) 

Sizes:

6 months, 9- 12 months, 1 - 3 years, 4 - 6 years, 7 - 10 years 

Pumpkin Hat           6 months        

Size:  12“ circumference, 6½“ high

 

Using 4mm needles & orange yarn, cast on 67sts          

1^st Row:           S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2^nd Row:          S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more 

11^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

12^th Row:         S1, *p5, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last two rows until work measures 5½“

Shape Top ~

1^st Row:       S1, k1, *k2tog, k2, rep from * to last st, k1                      (51sts)
