Little Stuffed Hearts ~ Knitted

Little Stuffed Heart

These sweet little hearts are knitted flat in one piece - with a seam down the centre back.

They are quick and easy to knit.

Many NHS hospitals welcome these little hearts - knitted in pairs. One to stay with a patient, and the other for a family member ....... to keep them connected in their thoughts.

I didn't invent this way of knitting a heart - many were knitted and donated since Covid times - but this is my easy version.

Each little heart measures around 3" (8cm)

Sew the side edges of the heart tops together (from the cast off stitches down to the centre). Then sew the side edges together for the seam that runs down the centre back of the heart, adding stuffing as you sew. Finish by gathering the cast on stitches together at the bottom of the heart.

If you wish, you can add a little hanging cord by securing and tying two tails together with a little knot near the top.

A friend asked me this week if I could knit her a little rainbow heart.

She wants to add it to a plain cream blanket she is making for a 'Rainbow Baby'

I was happy to help - I hope she likes it.
