consequences 02:31
Are we prepared to deal with the consequences of complacency? There is no going back because “normal” has always been an illusion If it’s easier to leave what is to be then I ask myself why should I remain at all If resistance is futile then what is stopping me from surrendering to the current and drowning in its wake? You don’t need me for this All my efforts are weak and it doesn’t take much to see I’m wholly irrelevant and that’ll never change I surrender my seat to those more worthy and I yield my existence to one who knows how to use it I surrender my seat, I yield it all. I know I’m not helping, I am peripheral--inconsequential

debris 02:20
I can’t--you can’t--we can’t rebuild We left too much debris in our wake If there’s anything to be salvaged here Best to burn it before it can devour what remains I can’t watch as you take our ashes and just turn them to precious gems and sell them for profit Recurring dreams you’re drowning but I can’t be the one to save you; someone always gets there first, and it’s a nightmare I think I can handle all of this Better than alternatives Maybe this could be a clean break but I can’t let it go A splinter in my finger; an eyelash in my eye; on each one of them I wish you’d never die When I see your jacket hanging over your chair it means so much to me Means so much to me I’m watching the river and hearing its rhythm but it will never drown you out or wash you away
3.
shatter 01:35
“Look up, I’m hanging above from the rafters” She looks and her eyes shatter, as if in cryogen Now my feet on the ground Looking at her I can see she’s starving, But I’m offering her flowers Nothing more than feverfew and lavender
4.
whim 01:09
The smell of the cold wind and a diesel engine will never fail to whisk me back to the thought of you cursing and throwing your phone; it all makes me want to never look back again Thought I saw your face under the ice, but I just ran away I know you’re not a spectre; your wrath is merely that of human form Limited only by doors and locks and maybe a court order But not, ever, by your whim to torture
5.
closer 01:52
You can’t escape You’re surrounded by darkness inside and out So thick it feels heavy as you try to move The smell of decay overwhelms you and makes you gag You’re ripping open your stitches with your bare hands but they just keep coming or maybe it’s bugs creeping in Beetles and earthworms You hear it in the distance but it’s getting louder now it’s coming, advancing, it’s closer, it’s stifling
