Silly Sunday (?) Photos: It's All About the GIFs

Happy Weekend to you all!

This is what my Labor Day weekend has been like:

Rather oxymoronic, right? I have done very little, today at least. I guess that's what extended holidays are for? Maybe it's a mom thing, but I always line up a gazillion projects to do on long weekends, like an extra ten hours one weekend is going to make some amazing difference. And I usually don't get things done because I'm overwhelmed and like, "Forget it! I'll just lay on the ground and graze grass."

Yesterday I did do our shopping and when we finally finished, this is what I felt like:

It's actually not that bad. I'm finishing up the developmental stuff and am getting to the point of deciding to move on, which feels a little like the GIF above. But at least I'm making progress.

This past week has been crazy, with trauma and tragedy the world over, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed this next week goes so much better for everyone, everywhere. And hopefully you found a little something to help you smile in this post.

Happy (late) Weekend!

How did your week go?

I'll admit, my week was pretty interesting. If you've been on Twitter, you'll already know that I tried to cut off my thumb with a mandolin slicer. The urgent care doctor glued the skin back down, but the glue is starting to come off and it doesn't look good at all. I can't tell if it's infected, or if it just looks gross.

I bought and read a book about writing short stories by James Scott Bell. I want to get back into short stories, and the book was really helpful. Sadly, I haven't actually written anything yet. I've been working, cooking and editing when I can. I have a journal, though, and I'm working on one story idea a day. Eventually I should find a story I want to write!

Funny Friday Photos: Kinky Camels

Happy Friday to one and all!

So, I ended up taking a little, unannounced vacation from blogging for a month.

Sorry about that...

I don't think I'm really blogging, anyway. I'm just kind sharing things I find funny every couple of weeks. I wonder if I'd have any readership if I actually started writing posts again. I fondly reminisce about how interconnected I used to be with other writers and in the writing community, but I don't think I have the energy to try to renew those connections, or make new ones. It takes so much work and time to engage on social media, and I'm shorter on time now than I was before I moved. Sounds like an excuse, but it's just my truth.

Strangely, after moving, I let go of expectations, and pretty much dropped any sense of need or responsibility to writing. Over the last couple of months I've been contemplating how much of a commitment I'm ready to make to writing again and what would be doable within the structure of my current life. Maybe that's what I should write a post about. *rolls eyes*

Funny Friday Photos: Belugas with 'Tude

Happy Friday!

Below is a beluga with attitude. A bad one. Maybe  it's hangry. I don't know, but I think it's good it can't get to those little kids.

Did you know beluga whales can be that aggressive? They always have seemed to be serene, until now. Won't be looking at belugas the same way again.

Let's see some new photos. It's definitely an eclectic mix this week!

My kids know I'm the one with compassion for their nightmares, so guess who always gets woken up in the middle on the night. Scares the bejeebers out of me each time, too.

This is such a weird group of photos. No animals except the mean beluga and a human. My fears of using something illegally is really making it tough to find funny pictures.

Have you had a great few weeks? My good news is that I've finished chapter two of Through the Fairy Ring. Woo hoo! At this rate I'll be finishing the book in another four years... We'll have to see.

Funny Friday Photos: Sassy Pants

Happy Friday!

The last two weeks went by really fast! I didn't mean to skip last week's post. It just kind of happened, because there always seems to be something to do on Thursday nights. Heck, there's always something to do EVERY night!

I've decided I really hate chapter two of Through the Fairy Ring and I need to figure out something different to go there. Every time I try to write it I just get a heavy feeling in my chest and I can't do it. I've been fighting to keep going for a long time now because I need to have a chapter two but I've decided to listen to my instincts and ditch it. I'm already more excited about coming up with a new idea than I ever was about the chapter. I'm thinking about getting Edlark and Hazel into a scene together. That would be way more fun than what's  currently going on.

I'm really liking Adam Lambert right now. His voice is absolutely amazing. Okay, so he's cute, too, but mostly I'm enthralled with his voice. My sister would have loved him. Anyway, I'm listening to his album The Original High almost constantly. I've always liked his songs, but something about Another Lonely Night moved my interest level up. It might be a good song to add to my Through the Fairy Ring playlist. It kind of sums up Hazel's state of mind at the beginning of the book. Have you heard it? Here's a link if you want to see it. Funny Friday Photos: LOL Lizards

Happy Friday!

How have your last two weeks been? All is good here! I'm learning my new job, playing with my kids, and even have started to organize writing stuff. One thing I've learned--if you take too much time between writing periods, it's almost like starting all over again when you finally return to it.

Something I realized is that some of the changes I've made to create continuity in the plot line in Through the Fairy Ring has decreased some of the angst and initial tension between Arden and Hazel.  I've been feeling kind of blah about it. But, on the other hand, starting the story off with them being friendly may really make the later conflict explode. Hmmm.

I'm going to come clean. There were two weeks between posts because I totally forgot it was Thursday and I was supposed to find photos until Friday morning. I guess my first week at work messed me up. It was a good week, though. I think I'm going to like my new job. So far it's been fun talking with the older people. And so incredibly quiet! After 12ish years working in schools, I can't believe how quiet a room can be. Anyway, from now on I'm going to try to keep my days straight, so expect another post next week!

I have a tie this week. My favorite is the lizard bringing toast to his girl, and the blue footed birdies.
