Silly Sunday (?) Photos: It's All About the GIFs

Happy Weekend to you all!

This is what my Labor Day weekend has been like:

Rather oxymoronic, right? I have done very little, today at least. I guess that's what extended holidays are for? Maybe it's a mom thing, but I always line up a gazillion projects to do on long weekends, like an extra ten hours one weekend is going to make some amazing difference. And I usually don't get things done because I'm overwhelmed and like, "Forget it! I'll just lay on the ground and graze grass."

Yesterday I did do our shopping and when we finally finished, this is what I felt like:

This is how editing is going right now:

It's actually not that bad. I'm finishing up the developmental stuff and am getting to the point of deciding to move on, which feels a little like the GIF above. But at least I'm making progress.

This monkey knows Jedi mind tricks. You now really want to eat peanuts or bananas.

This is a cute one - it takes a little time to start, so just keep watching!

And two cute, non-GIF puns:

This past week has been crazy, with trauma and tragedy the world over, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed this next week goes so much better for everyone, everywhere. And hopefully you found a little something to help you smile in this post.

Best wishes for a new week!!

Silly Saturday Photos: Pretty Crocodiles

Happy Weekend!

I hope the week has gone well and you can look forward to a calm and relaxing few days off. Or, perhaps you want a wild and exciting fun time. Whatever your wishes, I hope the weekend meets your expectations!

Following a very busy week, I am definitely ready for some time off. I have been reading Fearless Writing and am identifying with Kenower's observations. I haven't had time to edit during the week, but last weekend I edited several chapters. I've also been completing the exercises at the end of the chapters in Kenower's book and brainstorming on new stories. I'm starting to think about writing without dreading it or experiencing the self-loathing I've attached to my lack of production and amazingly maintain my motivation to create. That's progress.

This week I actually found some funny pictures worthy of sharing. I hope you enjoy them!

Doing home visits in a neighboring county this week I ran into swarms of butterflies, which I believe are part of this years Monarch Butterfly migration. Sadly, I can't count how many I killed with the car. And the birds were picking them off, too. It's a wonder any actually make it to their destination. In my defense, I did try to avoid them, once I realized they weren't grasshoppers.  I won't actively try to kill anything, but I don't feel too bad if I accidentally run over a few grasshoppers.

Speaking of grasshoppers...

Said no squirrel ever!

Such cute puns!

Did any of the photos tickle your funny bone? Or at least give you a chuckle? I'm partial to the patient squirrel. I have a love/hat relationship with squirrels. They're awfully cute, but frustrate me to no end. Almost as much as the local bunnies. The chameleon is a close second.

Have a great weekend!

Silly Saturday Photos: Penguins, Camels and Adam Lambert

Yay for the weekend!
And Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers!

I hope you all had a wonderful week! I think mine was good. Quite honestly, it was a whirlwind and between my kids' end of school things and the state of politics, it was over before I knew it. Which is probably a good thing, but it means most of my writing was done in my head and not much on paper.

Let's see some photos... (Found on icanhascheeseburger.com)

I looked it up. It's true penguins were nicknamed "arse-feet" in the 1800's!

For some reason it reminds me of Patrick Stewart?

Last night I had a dream I was riding a camel, and forgot until I saw this picture.
It was a weird dream.

Well, I think that's it for funny photos. Despite getting distracted by watching Adam Lambert videos on YouTube, this post is still taking way longer than it should to pull together. I have scrolled through lots of funny photos and I'm ready to call it for the week.

The thing about Adam Lambert is he is creatively inspirational to me. I can listen to any song - not just the ones I have on my Through the Fairy Ring playlist - and I get that itchy-to-create feeling. I'm not sure if it's the music or his talent for entertaining that makes me want to explore my own creativity. The persona he puts out to the public is unafraid and unapologetic. His music helps me to remember to be brave and overcome the fear of creative rejection. Here are some quotes from him that I like:

"I started rejecting the proper way to sing and I started singing."

"There's not a blueprint for me to follow."

"I think the more we as artists share ourselves openly, the more someone out there may feel inspired to do the same." (Flaunt Magazine, 2016)

So, yeah! Thanks Adam Lambert, for being an artistic emotional support!

Here's one of the songs that I attribute to Arden's character arc in TTFR. It's called Runnin' and is from the album Trespassing. It's not a video, just the music.

And with that, I'll call it a week!

Do you have an artistic emotional support system? What do you find motivates you to create?

Silly Saturday Photos: Squirrel Games

Welcome to the weekend!

How was your week? Mine was crazy busy! I'm behind with paperwork at work, Boy 1 had an orchestra concert and Boy 2 had his birthday. It's all behind us now, though. On to the weekend, and editing and relaxation, right?

I found enough pictures I thought were cute that you don't have to read an actual post. I'm wondering what I should write about when I have to write a blog post. I haven't done that in so long!

Anyway, here's this week's offering of photos:

They look so determined!

They may eat my bird seed, but I'm still starting to find squirrels charming.

The way I feel by the end of the week. This is why I don't have friends.

So, that would be a no.

What applying for government assistance programs is like. You understand the direction, but it doesn't make sense.

A little science humor...

I think my favorite is the squirrel games. I laugh when I see flattened squirrels - unless their guts are beside them on the road. Then I feel sad.

I think I'm a little tired. Did I just write that?

Anyway, have an awesome weekend and try to stay sane next week!

Silly Saturday Photos: Wolverine Kitty

Happy (late) Weekend!

How did your week go?

I'll admit, my week was pretty interesting. If you've been on Twitter, you'll already know that I tried to cut off my thumb with a mandolin slicer. The urgent care doctor glued the skin back down, but the glue is starting to come off and it doesn't look good at all. I can't tell if it's infected, or if it just looks gross.

I bought and read a book about writing short stories by James Scott Bell. I want to get back into short stories, and the book was really helpful. Sadly, I haven't actually written anything yet. I've been working, cooking and editing when I can. I have a journal, though, and I'm working on one story idea a day. Eventually I should find a story I want to write!

Well, let's see this week's photos! I actually saw some that were funny.

My dogs are so old, they only wish they could go for so many walks.

Every single time!!

Who knew Sauron was a girl.

The likeness is uncanny!

A punny joke!

My favorite is the Wolverine cat! It's so funny!

Have a lovely week and we'll see you next weekend!

Silly Saturday Photos: Who Gives a Puck?

Welcome to the weekend!

How is everyone? I think I'm getting to be old. Last weekend I hurt my back by bending over. That's all. Just bent over to get groceries out of the car. I had great plans to write over the extended weekend, and instead spent the entire watching Netflix/Amazon Prime with ice on my back. I did finally watch the Captain America: Civil War and the Night Manager with Tom Hiddleston. He totally deserved the Golden Globe he won for playing Jonathon Pine. I wish his acceptance speech had gone over better.

Reading or watching movies (and now writing itself) has always been an escape for me. When life has been harder to deal with, I've relied on my imagination to get me out of my head and keep me sane. There is no greater honor than to know that something I created has given the same gift to others. To entertain, to lift people out of their own lives and take them on a magic carpet ride of their imagination, is a fantastic privilege.  I think that's all he was trying to say, but instead of cutting him some slack, the internet went all crazy, as it does anymore.

Anyway, here are this week's photos! I hope you can find some thing that makes you laugh this week.

No more, no less.

And never, ever right lane.

Puns!

Anyone hearing Foghorn Leghorn right now? "Screw. Ball. Screwball? Got it sonny?"

I love the little dowager bird. It looks like it's in an evening gown.

How has your last couple of weeks been?
Do you like any of the photos?

Silly Saturday Photos: A Froze Nose

Surprise!!

Happy Saturday!

I missed another post, and decided to just switch days instead of waiting a full two more weeks. Who knows, I might move the post to Saturday all the time, so I can stay up late finding photos and not worry about having to be to work the next day.

Over the last several weeks I've made several decisions. The first is to avoid reading about US politics, which means steadfastly avoiding scrolling through any social media. Pretty soon we're going to have world leaders in twitter fights with Donald Trump and I just don't want to be a witness to it.

I've organized my home life to within an inch of  my sanity. I have a financial budget, an food and exercise plan and a weekly cleaning schedule. I'm hoping by doing a little bit of cleaning all through the week I'll have bigger blocks of time to edit on the weekends. Then I can write new stuff during the week in short-time bursts in a handwritten notebook. This is my first week trying it out, and it's looking good going into the weekend. There's very little cleaning to do, and I can conceive of editing all day on Sunday. So exciting!!

Anyway - I'm ready for new photos, so perhaps you are, too! Let's go!

And a pun.

I think my favorite is the owl. It's how I've felt this week.

Did you see one you liked better than the others? Tell me in the comments!

Funny Friday Photos: A Whim Away

Is it Friday yet?

This week has taken forever to pass. Probably because it's the start of school vacation so my kids are off and I don't have a two-week, paid break for the first time in fifteen years. Those school schedules sure are nice when you're working on one.

I don't have much new and exciting to discuss, so I think I'll just mosey on along to the photos.

Here's the favorite from last post:

And now some new stuff to take us into the holiday weekend with cheer:

Finally a caption for this picture I like!

Writer's be like "Will you like my book?" Oh, wait, that may be just me.

Actually, it's the school drop off lane at 8:50 and 8:51...
Via Dump-a-Day

For the times when you need to sell yourself to afford your meds.
Via the Chive.

I'd burn to death. I can't moonwalk.

Now that's stuck in your head, here's a couple of puns!

My favorite is the Lion Sleeps Tonight. It's such a cute, quirky joke.

What's your favorite?

Oh! AND... !!!
