City Wildlife - City Wildlife

Label : Edition Unibeirrt - L
Country : Switzerland
Year : 1987
Format : C30

Swiss not Scheiße. Neutral bias, maybe? Another one from the conspicuous corner of New Wave obscurity; Residential, yes. Dash of early Ween I feel. To avoid rehashing my RYM review, I'll actually talk about the music in English rather than buzzwords and halfhearted platitudes.

Yes, a mini-album as described by the experts at Discogs dot com. As can be seen from the tracklisting on the J-card you can get a glimpse of the brevity of most tracks on the album. Sketches more like, as I do like to describe. The music is a strange minimal treat for minimal ears. Synth experiments mix with vocal experiments and guitar experiments. Or maybe it sounds like one big (small) experiment. A demo album, perhaps? Maybe that's how I got it from Recrec just a week or few days ago.

The next reupload roundup comes nearer and nearer, just need to polish some stuff up; Stayed tune, mon  lecteur.

Carlos Alonso - Fragil Ironia

Label : La Sonrisa de Luz / Ediciones Efímeras - Cass. 0010
Year : 1997
Country : Argentina
Format : C30
Spasmodic & sporadic. Carlos Alonso is a true Patagonian muzikal treasure, having helmed the obscuro experimental group Uno X Uno which may as well have been credited here. Some of the more adventurous reading may be familiar with his escapades via the classic 433rpm blog, where I'm almost halfheartedly certain a tape of their's was presented back in the day.

The music, as I had mentioned, is similar to what I've heard from double Uno. Minimal industrial beatz flirting with free improv and avantrock insanity/inanity. The rip seems a bit fuzzy, I'm not sure if that's the tape itself or the deck, but I'm leaning more towards the source because I'm lazy.

Various Artists - Seventh Sign

Label : Tapehiss Recordings / Greyslade Music
Year : 1999
Country : US
Format : C30
Apocalyptic hyponagogia
Hebephrenic and frens make some likeminded sounds; Cumulative synthpop with a psycho-delic flair, not unlike other releases from this particular tape label.
As I have mentioned fervently regarding this project before, the influence of the Legendary Pink Dots is very pervasive. It even comes with a bit naff vocals that somehow fit the swirling synthscapes surrounding them.

If anyone has any other releases from this project, I would love to get my hands on them. By download or by purchase, I don't really mind either way. I just hope you guys enjoy it.

Infektionsabteilung - Luzifer's Traum

Label : Narcolepsia - narco070
Country : Portugal
Year : 2015
Format : C30

Here's a more recent tape. Brief dark ambiance for that industrious thrill. Apparently, this is an Italian project. Expect heavy organ and primitive drone. Tiny pinch of noise, too.

Rik Albatros - Abandoned And Left To Die

Label : n/a
Year : 1994
Country : UK
Format : C30

Ripped by OminousMafioso

As prophesied by... well, me. Here is another tape from that venerable pseudonym. This is a strange one, in a different flavor compared to the regular strangeness purveyed around these parts. Discordant low-fi synth pops in adoration of the Mountain Goats. This guy really seems to enjoy the music of Mr. Darnielle, and is an infamous and famous figure in the following of that fine musical project.

No longer abandoned and left to die, now exhumed and left to fester on the internet!

Nothing's "here", the creator of this tape wanted me to take down this link. I wonder if he has something brewing...

1m54 - All Breaks Loose, I Suppose

Label : Toothpick - TP08
Country : Belgium
Year : 1996
Format : C30

Ripped by OminousMafioso

Very personal and intimate, as lowfi cassettes are wont to be described. This is definitely worthy of such labels, as each sparse track flows along the hiss like some kind of metaphor which loses meaning when I extrapolate on it. It's nice, very nice. And I'd been looking for it for quite the while til I contacted the person who had so graciously gleamed me with a rip of it. The screen name above is someone to watch out for, he has a great collection of tapes and is a very cool guy on top of it. Cheers!

Fuck Telecorps - Hard On/Off Hearong

Label : Mind Skull - 002
Year : 2011
Country : US
Format : C30

Telecorps in the collective unconscious is an unfamiliar entity to most, even in sub-underground communities such as that of the noise/free improv/sqwak collectives of the internet. A local group relative to me in Pittsburgh, Telecorps (sometimes known as "Fuck Telecorps") is a noize project utilizing whatever they can get a hold of to create a sound like any other noize project. They are probably best known for being featured on the seminal (?) noise compilation Noise War first released by the equally seminal (??) noise terrorism unit Mother Savage Noise Productions.

These days, Telecorps are still at it. This is a tape from RSD 2011 recorded live at the record store it was sold from, Mind Cure Records (now Cruel Noise Records). Mind Cure also operated as a record label, putting out this tape in collaboration with Dear Skull Records (who also pressed another record featured here).
