M-KOPA CFO Faraimose (Mose) Kutadzaushe, CFA wins Anaplan Connect Africa's Transformational Leadership Award! Congratulations to Mose and our entire Finance Team! #transformationalleadership #excellenceinfinance

Anaplan Connect Africa Transformational Leadership Award. Leadership is often what makes the difference between implementing technology and delivering real transformation. At Anaplan Connect Africa in Johannesburg, we recognised two exceptional leaders as finalists for our Transformational Leadership Award: David Cohen CEO of Superbalist, and Faraimose (Mose) Kutadzaushe, CFA ) CFO of M-KOPA. David has been a tremendous executive sponsor of Superbalist’s transformation across Merchandise Financial Planning and Integrated Financial Planning, helping lead the programme from the top and bringing the organisation behind the journey. M-KOPA is a remarkable African fintech, using innovative financing and technology to make smartphones and digital financial services accessible to millions of customers who have traditionally been excluded from conventional financial services. As M-KOPA has grown, Mose has led an equally ambitious transformation within Finance, spanning financial planning and analysis and statutory consolidation, creating a stronger platform to support the next stage of the company’s growth. We are pleased to say that our winner was Mose of M-KOPA. Mose was unfortunately unable to join us in Johannesburg as he was attending M-KOPA’s company strategy week. So, together with Deloitte, M-KOPA’s strategic implementation partner, we had the opportunity to surprise him with the news beforehand and record his reaction and reflections on the journey. It was wonderful to play that video during the awards ceremony. Njamba Kapalu, Head of Sales at M-KOPA, joined us to proudly accept the award on Mose’s behalf, presented by Jihen Mairech, Head of Customer Success for our Emerging Markets. A huge congratulations to Mose, Njamba, the entire M-KOPA team and Deloitte, and also to David and the Superbalist team on being such worthy finalists. A fantastic example of leadership driving transformation. #AnaplanConnect #AnaplanConnectAfrica #MKOPA #Superbalist #Deloitte #TransformationalLeadership #FinanceTransformation #ConnectedPlanning #Africa Faraimose (Mose) Kutadzaushe, CFA, Njamba Kapalu Andries Van den Berg Tsholofelo Masakale Byron Williams Taj El-khayat تاج الخياط Laurent MARTINI Jihen Mairech Jean-Marc Sennechael Mark Wormald Christine Cort Rasheed K. Congratulations to our CFO, Mr Faraimose (Mose) Kutadzaushe, CFA, on this incredible achievement! Mose took the reins at a pivotal time, just as M-KOPA began scaling quickly, and needed finance processes, reporting, and systems that could keep pace with that growth and complexity. He and his team didn't just meet that challenge, they delivered well beyond what was asked. That's a testament not only to his vision, but to the dedication of the entire finance team at M-KOPA. Well done, Mose and team, we're incredibly proud of this recognition. And thank you to Anaplan for being such a strong partner on this journey!

A special moment from our Anaplan Connect Africa Awards. Faraimose (Mose) Kutadzaushe, CFA CFO of M-KOPA, was the winner of our Transformational Leadership Award, but unfortunately couldn’t be with us in Johannesburg on the day. Ahead of Connect, Andries Van den Berg Finance Transformation Leader at Deloitte Africa, caught up with Mose to surprise him with the news that he had won. What I particularly like about this video is that it goes beyond the award itself. Andries and Mose have a candid conversation about the M-KOPA finance transformation, the journey so far, what they have achieved and where they see it going next. We played the video during the awards ceremony, and I wanted to share it here for those who weren’t able to see it. A great story of leadership, partnership and transformation. Congratulations again, Mose. Very well deserved! And a special thank you to the Deloitte media team in Johannesburg, who filmed the session locally, and to my son Luke A. at Koptic Studios, who did the final editing and creation of the video at very short notice to make sure we had it ready for Connect Africa. A real team effort and very much appreciated. Taj El-khayat تاج الخياط Laurent MARTINI Jihen Mairech Jean-Marc Sennechael Mark Wormald Rasheed K. We’re expanding access to clean mobility in Kenya by making electric tuk-tuks affordable through pay-as-you-go financing, helping more drivers switch from petrol and reduce their everyday running costs. Since launching M-KOPA Mobility in 2023, we’ve been supporting the transition to electric transport across Kenya, with a clear opportunity to help drivers keep more of their earnings while reducing the environmental impact of their journeys. We’ve now financed more than 10,000 electric motorbikes in Kenya. Our motorcycle rider data shows average savings of KSh 530 per day, driven by lower energy and maintenance costs, alongside access to battery-swapping infrastructure. Through electric tuk-tuks, we’re bringing these benefits to more Every Day Earners and supporting affordable, convenient journeys for the communities they serve. In Mombasa, where tuk-tuks are a practical way to get around, switching to electric reduces noise pollution and fuel costs, helping drivers take home more from each day’s work. With financing for both electric motorcycles and tuk-tuks, drivers can choose the vehicle that best suits their livelihoods as we continue to support the ambitions of Kenya’s National Electric Mobility Policy. We’re grateful to the partners helping us make clean mobility more accessible and look forward to reaching more drivers and communities together.

Babajide Duroshola, our General Director of M-KOPA Nigeria, recently joined Anita Ebinehita Eboigbe, COO of Big Cabal Media, for a fireside chat at this year’s Zikoko Naira Life Conference. The conversation explored what it takes to move from earning well to building lasting wealth and how people can turn today’s income into greater financial security and long-term independence. At M-KOPA Nigeria, Babajide leads our mission to provide Everyday Earners and micro-entrepreneurs with access to smartphones, financial services and flexible credit, enabling them to reach more customers, grow their businesses and increase their earning potential. Thanks to Zikoko for hosting Babajide and creating space for an important conversation on financial progress and prosperity.

Six years ago, I walked into an interview for a telesales agent job. I walked out as a Team Lead. Not because I asked for it — because they told me I was overqualified for the agent role and handed me the team on the spot. My very first job, straight out of campus. No prior experience. Suddenly leading a team doing work I had never done myself. I lasted three months at Raj Ushanga before it hit me: how do you coach people through a job you've never actually done? So I did something that looked like a step backward. I went and became the agent. The one on the calls. The one learning the script, missing the target, figuring out the pitch. That decision shaped everything. From there: Telesales rep at SunCulture. Then M-KOPA — customer retention, then quality analyst, then projects and partnerships. And this year, something that made me smile at the symmetry of it all: Team Lead. Again. But this time, I've done every task my team does. Somewhere in that climb came the moment I'm still proudest of: I was handed the Phone Delivery Project — my very first project to own end to end. I didn't just deliver it; I blew past the target. That one project put me in rooms I'd never been in, gave me real corporate exposure, and quietly opened every door that came after. Six years. Same hunger. A lot more scar tissue. What I know now that I didn't know at 22: boldness gets you in the room, but it's the willingness to start from the bottom that lets you stay. I don't regret a single role. Grateful doesn't cover it. But it's a start. 🥂

M-KOPA was built for what it calls "Every Day Earners": the traders, boda riders, tailors, and shopkeepers who generate income daily but remain invisible to conventional financial services. Where traditional banks saw only risk, M-KOPA saw an opportunity to provide an economically active population with innovative products and services designed around daily livelihoods. 9 in 10 independently surveyed M-KOPA customers say that M-KOPA products have improved their lives. “Every Day Earners are why we do this. From our very first customer to this year's ten millionth, this is proof that a model built for Africa's Every Day Earners doesn't just work; it scales and endures. It's a proud moment for our team, and we're already looking to the next 10 million," said M-KOPA CFO Faraimose (Mose) Kutadzaushe, CFA

10 years at M-KOPA 💚 Alhamdulillah for the journey. Today marks 10 years since I joined M-KOPA, and it feels like a moment worth pausing to truly appreciate. Ten years of learning, stretching, changing roles, taking on new challenges, working with incredible people, making mistakes, celebrating wins, and continuously discovering new ways to contribute. I've had the opportunity to grow through different chapters of the business — starting in Customer Care, where I supported several roles and new initiatives, moving into Training, and now into Business Operations, where I focus on process improvement, systems, operational governance, change management, and continuous improvement. In those 10 years, I've watched — and been part of — something much bigger than myself. From the early days to now serving over 10 million customers, it has been incredibly humbling to witness how far we've come and the impact we've had on millions of lives. Looking back, I'm most grateful for the people who have shaped this journey — colleagues, leaders, mentors, teams, and partners who challenged me, supported me, trusted me, and helped me become better at every stage. Ten years later, I still have so much to learn, contribute and build. Here's to the journey so far, the lessons that came with it, the people who made it meaningful, and the next chapter. 🚀 Alhamdulillah for 10 years. And excited for what comes next. 💚 #MKOPA #10Years #CareerJourney #Growth #Gratitude #CustomerCare #Training #BusinessOperations #10MillionCustomers

M-KOPA has reached 10 million customers across Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa. The milestone is significant. However, what really stands out is how quickly the company has reached it. M-KOPA took approximately eight years to acquire its first one million customers, reaching that milestone in 2020. It has since added another nine million customers in only six years and is now onboarding approximately 10,000 customers daily. The growth trajectory is remarkable: ✅ 1 million customers in 2020 ✅ 2 million customers in 2022 ✅ Over 7 million customers by July 2025 ✅ 10 million customers by July 2026 What M-KOPA has built is increasingly about much more than smartphone financing. Its “More Than a Phone” platform uses the smartphone as an entry point into embedded credit, insurance, device protection, affordable data and other digital financial services. The company has now: 1️⃣ Unlocked more than US$2 billion in credit 2️⃣ Built a network of over 40,000 agents 3️⃣ Produced over 3.3 million devices at its Kenya assembly facility 4️⃣ Expanded its model successfully across five different African markets 5️⃣ Recorded average annual revenue growth of 50% since 2020 For me, the bigger story is how M-KOPA has designed its model around Africa’s “Every Day Earners”—traders, boda boda riders, tailors, shopkeepers and millions of others who earn daily but are often excluded by financial systems built around monthly payslips. As M-KOPA CEO Jesse Moore puts it: “Informal has never meant unviable.” Reaching 10 million customers proves demand and scalability. The next phase will be about demonstrating sustainable customer value, responsible lending, transparent pricing, strong portfolio performance and deeper access to financial services. I have unpacked the milestone, M-KOPA’s growth trajectory and what its evolution could mean for the future of fintech and financial inclusion across Africa.
