My personal favorite Tear Garden record. Written and recorded in the wake of the passing of founding member Dwayne Goettel, To Be an Angel Blind, the Cripple Soul Divide is more subdued and 'organic' than any of the band's previous material, and without a trace of proper industrial to be found.

Track listing:
1. Ascension Day
2. We the People
3. In Search of My Rose
4. Crying from Outside
5. Psycho 9
6. With Wings
7. Judgement Hour
8. New Eden
9. Tasteless
10. Cyberspider
11. Malice Through the Looking Glass
12. Phoenix
13. The Habit

A late-career masterpiece from the great Edward Ka-Spel. A sinister, queasily beautiful world of shivering synths, glitchy rhythms, and the man's paranoid musings on death, justice, and isolation within "our Big Society." My introduction to this record came in the comments section of one of my previously LPD posts, so if you're the anon who posted that link: what a magnificent beast of a record, thanks so much for getting me up to speed!

Track listing:
1. A Star Is Born
2. The Garden of Ealing
3. Esher Everywhere
4. Pendulum
5. Grey Scale
6. A Stretch in Time
7. One More Dimension

After almost three decades, Edward Ka-Spel's musical brilliance shined as bright as ever on Plutonium Blonde, a warped journey through thunderous industrial, cinematic synthscapes, gothic synth pop, sinister psychedelia, musique concrète, and utter emotional desolation. For some reason, their label claimed upon the album's release that it was their "most commercially appealing" record to date; this sentiment was echoed in a reliably off-base review on Allmusic. Trust me, though: it's fucking not.

Track listing:
1. Torchsong
2. Rainbows Too
3. A World with No Mirrors
4. My First Zonee
5. Faded Photography
6. An Arm and a Leg
7. Mailman
8. Oceans Blue
9. Savannah Red

It's Halloween month, kids!!! Over the next few weeks, expect posts about albums that rate at at least an 8.5/10 on the Spook-O-Meter.™

To kick things off, how 'bout an experimental, psych/electro-industrial project (supergroup?) centered on the duo of Edward Ka-Spel and cEvin Key. Tired Eyes Slowly Burning features contributions from several members of Skinny Puppy and LPD, including the instantly recognizable vocals of OhGr on the heartbreaking, mindmelting centerpiece, "You and Me and Rainbows". Don't get me wrong: this is not for everyone. It's for a very specific type of nerd -- the type of nerd that reads OPIUM HUM, perhaps?

Track listing:
1. Deja Vu
2. Room with a View
3. Coma
4. Valium
5. You and Me and Rainbows
6. OO EE OO

Previously on OPIUM HUM:
Legendary Pink Dots - Chemical Playschool ! & 2 (1981)

A full-on masterpiece of dark, mind-melting outsider psych. Come get lost in a dense musical forest of acoustic and fuzzed-out guitars, synth, saxophone, and more, throughout which Edward Ka-Spel's warped, desperate vocals echo. Perfect in every way, except in that it is too creepy for mixed company.

Track listing:
1. Disturbance
2. Pennies for Heaven
3. Third Secret
4. The Grain Kings
5. The Ocean Cried 'Blue Murder'
6. Belladonna
7. A Space Between
8. Evolution
9. Cheraderama
10. Lilith
11. Fourth Secret
12. Expresso Noir
13. Home
14. Crushed Velvet
