I came across this album a few weeks back, and from the band name, album artwork, and song titles, I was expecting more of a traditional epic heavy metal style, but these guys are creating death metal, and it is quite good at that. It is mid-paced and melodic leaning, but overall, this is a very good listen.

I couldn't find a lot of information about this band, but I first came across their 2025 EP towards the end of last year and thought it showed promise, and here they are back already with a full-length album. Empire Of Torment seems to be a 1-man project, and I like the instrumental aspects of the songs. I also like the way the dude's voice sounds; it's deep and intelligible, but there is something about the lyrics, which seem to have a strong Christian slant, and the delivery he uses that sounds a bit ham-fisted (contrived) at times.

I like this disc for a few reasons. First off, the band creates a grisly old-school chug that I really enjoy, and then the drummer is bringing cymbals back to death metal. I am not sure if it is his technique or the way he has them mic'ed, but they really stand out in the mix. The only thing missing is the Deivos cowbell. The other interesting thing is that this band has the exact same lineup as Oath Div. 666, which also plays old-school sounding death metal with a more Satanic slant.

Jungle Rot is the model of consistency because they have created 12 full-length albums over the course of 30 years, and in some ways, they have all been the same album. Obviously, there are differences in each release, albeit quite subtle, and for some fans, that is a very positive attribute of the band. For me, I have liked all of their albums that I have listened to over the years, but none compel me to come back over and over. Maybe this newest release will be different.

Even though this album is more than a decade old I only stumbled across it a couple of months back, and when I finally decided to give it a listen, my first thought was, damn this is interesting! There are parts of the album that work very well, thrashy and jamming, and then there are other parts that are a bit too progressive, but overall, I really dig it.

Corrosive Agent is a new German band who, based on their bio, recorded, mixed & mastered this album themselves, and they got a great sound. Proof that there is no need to have shitty sound quality in the production, like many bands are getting nowadays. These guys play what I would call modern melodic death groove, and I'm mostly liking it. Some parts are a bit slow, and the songs can tend to drag, but the band's heavier side is interesting and appealing to me, so I keep listening. I would say this disc is worth checking out if you're open to the progressive/melodic slant in their style.
