I have communicated with Dirk Verbeuren a few times in the past and he contacted me a few days ago and asked me to help promote his new disc, which is very cool because I hadn't heard this new material and I really liked their 2011 ep, Nostalgia. So I gave it a few spins and I really like the new Bent Sea material. But let me start with Usurpress. I liked their 2012 release it was total old school worship but upon a few listens this material here is a little too sludgy for me. We'll see what they do next. Now on to Bent Sea. This is Dirk Verbeuren's band, he plays drums as you would expect but he also plays the guitars...well. He has been involved in so many projects, he's basically the Rogga Johansson of the drum world. Obviously Dirk is in Scarve, but I really like his work in Anatomy of I and Solium Fatalis. Bent Sea is also Sven de Caluwé of Aborted and In-Quest fame, I like They Swarm too. Then to top the whole thing off Shane Embury (no introduction necessary) has now joined the fold for this release and a new full length coming in 2015.
