I wanted to bring this post back to the front of The Chamber. I really liked this album and purchased a cool t-shirt from the band when this came out. Also, be sure to check out their 2020 EP, only 4 tracks but they jam. I'm leaving my comment below just the way it was in September 2018 when I first posted this.  

Damn, this disc is pretty F-ing cool I'm liking it a lot so far! Subtype Zero offers up an interesting flavor of thrash metal, no death here, but the riffing is infectious and the leads are sick as Hell. Very entertaining for my tastes. Try it and see what you think (\m/\m/)

This band has been around since 1990, but I hadn't heard of them before hearing this album a while back, and I was going to say that probably only an old cuss like me would like this, and then I thought that CarlG definitely wouldn't like this and he is an even older cuss than I am. My younger self back in the early '80s would have loved the lead guitarwork on display here and the rawness of the production gives it a nostalgic feel that I can still appreciate now.

There have certainly been a lot of great death metal bands from Poland over the years, to the point that the list of honorable mention is almost too long to state here. For me, though, Deivos, Embrional, & Calm Hatchery are at the top of the pyramid. This new release carries forward their banner proudly and solidly for my tastes even though the production could be crisper and punchier, but the quality of the songs speaks for themselves.

For several years, Deivos was at the top of my list of favorite Polish death metal bands, but when Endemic Divine came out, they changed their style a bit, and I kinda lost them, but I do like a lot of this album, so now I feel like I need to go back and check Casus Belli more closely too.

Ulcer is another Polish band I liked a lot several years back, which makes sense because they share a few members from Deivos, but I kind of lost track of them with their 2021 album Dead Souls Cathedral, it didn't grab me, but this release and their 2007 promo are quite good for my tastes. I can't believe I didn't have this posted already.

Wow, this is tight! Some of the newer tech-death can be too wanky and "core-ish" and it detracts from the listenability, and while this band does have a bit of that in their style, it is not over-powering. The 2 guitarists and the bass player have been together since 2014 with 2 EPs and a few singles to show for it, but over the past few years they added a new drummer and vocalist, and this unit created a disc that is fukking solid and killer \m/\m/

My friend nuttinface had told me about this band a few years back and said I should check them out, but I never did until just recently. The members of this band have a ton of experience in other bands, but I shied away because I didn't want to hear the guy who sang this song (which I loved, by the way) sing black metal now. I do have to admit, though, that I like this album as there are some skilled performances from the various members and Phill's black metal vocals aren't the worst I have heard.

This is the latest installment from Fractured Insanity, which is a band I have liked for a long time now. This sounds different than their older material but that makes sense because there aren't any founding members remaining in the lineup. One of the guitarists has been in the band since 2008, four years after inception, so he knows their history but the current style has changed.

I came across this album a couple of weeks ago, and my initial reaction was, Wow! Then, it was where in the hell was this album back in '93 when I was looking for something like this. Actually, I was looking for stuff just like this in '87 or '88 because by 1993 thrash had a much heavier and industrialized sound than this, but I love this style. The dude has amazing range in his vocals, the riffs are heavy and catchy, and the overall production is solid for an independent release. These dudes were from Orange County, CA., and unfortunately would only put out this 1 album that I am glad to have finally discovered, albeit 30+ years too late.
