From the album cover to the band photo, it is plain to see that there is some serious Judas Priest worship going on with this band. From my perspective, that isn't a bad thing because I dig the retro vibe they have conjured up with these tracks.

Wow, this is a fun old-school romp for someone with my tastes & preferences. It sounds more more like thrash metal than death metal to me, but I guess there's some death in it as well. I wasn't aware of this band's older work, but I really enjoy what I am hearing here. These guys got skillz \m/\m/

These guys have created some excellent death metal over the past 7-8 years, and I was very excited to see this release yesterday. I get it, it's only 11 minutes long, but the killer nod to Black Sabbath in the first track, and how it quickly shifts into a very different riff in track 2 sounds badass! The 3rd track is an experimental cover that completely changes the vibe, and not for the better, from the opening 6 minutes, but it shows their talent, and I applaud it.

The Italian band Necrogore was unknown to me until about 2-3 weeks ago, when I came across this release on Bandcamp and immediately pre-ordered it. This trio gives a grinding, fuzzy nod to the Swedish old-school sound, but solidly creates their own style as well, and I, for one, like it a lot.

Here is another one-man brutality project, this time from Genoa, Italy, and I like this one. He isn't doing anything new, but what he does, he does well. On a side note, I wonder what's up with the poor rip quality this year. You know, supposedly a rip is 320 Kbps, but the frequency response says otherwise. I don't pay a lot of attention to it, but my man, Ill over at STB always reports it, and this is one of many recordings this year that aren't as bright and clear as they could/should be.

I was really surprised when I figured out that this is the "same" Sudden Death that released 2 albums in the early 2000s and then not again until 2014. Interestingly, the only connection between this incarnation of the band and the earlier one is the vocalist, who only joined the band in 2014, so there are no founding members remaining at all. This album is also frustrating in that you can tell it was recorded at different times. Some of the tracks are loud, clear, and punchy, and others are muffled and faded. It's too bad because overall, this version of the band is very good.
