Tofino Brewing Co LAGER

Concept
Tofino Lager is crafted on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island. It’s brewed to be crisp and refreshing as the ocean air, balancing quality and character with broad appeal.

The packaging embraces the bold presence of larger brands, but reinterpreted through Tofino Brewing Co.’s coastal identity. By leaning into a confident “big brand” aesthetic while puting out a local vibe and a nod to the previous product label, the can is designed to feel mainstream …but still distinctly Tofino.

Solution
We partnered with Crown Packaging to create a can that captures both impact and authenticity. By combining metallic aluminum elements with a soft matte finish, the can achieves a premium, tactile presence on the shelf. A linear wave pattern flows around the can, paying homage to the Pacific Ocean and ties to Tofino surf culture.

The design relies on contrasting finishes—highlights of exposed aluminum shimmer through the matte coating—giving the waves a dynamic, light-catching quality. The balance of bold branding, metallic accents, and the ocean motif makes it both recognizable in a crowded cooler and meaningful to its roots.

Results
The finished can elevates Tofino Brewing Co. into a design space that can sit confidently alongside larger breweries on retail shelves, bridging craft authenticity with big-brand polish while still carrying the personality of its west coast origins. It communicates scale without losing soul, ensuring Tofino Lager feels both widely accessible and authentically local.
