Limelight

How do you give terroir a glow consumers can feel?
The wines in this range are from the region of Robertson, an area prized for its ideal vine growing conditions and perfect limestone soils. Fascinating, but not particularly compelling for the average wine drinker. But what if soil science could speak the language of the senses? We needed to create a relatable and emotionally sensorial angle for the consumer, and this was provided by the alluring way in which Limestone soils respond in low light.

“In the light of the stars and the full moon, limestone soils shimmer with a pale light, called Limelight.”

To set the dusky tone, we selected a deep velvety colour-palette – midnight blue for the reds, forest green (whites) and powdery teal for the rosé. The tone-on-tone foreground illustration, with its large vine leaves, leads down a winding road through the vineyards towards the Cape Dutch farmhouse, mysterious in the distance.

By the pale silvery light of the moon, the shadowy soil between the vines becomes an iridescent pathway to the stars. An insignificant little moth is transformed into a creature of ethereal luminosity. Nothing is as it seems by day. Can a wine’s soul be seen in the moonlight?
