The Wilderness Awaits - Dog

The third of the Wilderness Awaits masculine card series.

I had so much fun making this card! But, my words aren't flowing after today's day. I had to wait all day for the plumber, and it turned out I could have done the things I had initially planned to do as he couldn't get here when he thought. It was 5 hours later. Sorry

Using the Hardwood background stamp I think works well for this image. And if you can't guess what I did with the Hardwood piece, it is something I wish to share with my class when that day arrives. I'll come back and include it in this post when the class is done.

I chose to do water colouring with my Aqua Painters for the image on this card (on the outside).

Taking a long piece of Linen Thread and folding it in half, and then half again, I tied a knot and then trimmed the ends off. Love how the look turned out.

Die cutting an oval one size larger than the sentiment oval fives the sentiment and card a unique look.

Below you can see the layering of the card
.

For the inside of the card, I opted to not water colour the image, but used sponging instead.  I'm wishing I took the extra time to water colour again as it looks too different from the front of the card. What I like about the sentiment inside the card below is that it can work for Father's Day, Birthday, Anniversary, etc.

Hope you enjoyed another masculine 'Wilderness Awaits' card. Tomorrow is the Elk, so pop by again.

Happy stamping!

"Wild About Flowers" Retirement

I just love the "Wild About Flowers" stamp set! Again, I'm thinking about classes, and had to make more cards using this set. This card is cased from Pinterest and was created by Lynn from LW Designs.

I used a different embossing folder and die than Lynn did, but it's pretty much the same as she designed it. I love the Tip Top  Taupe with the Blackberry Bliss. A great colour combo.

The following photo is a close up of the front of the card. When I use a background stamp like the "Hardwood" one, I like to use my brayer. I place the cardstock on the stamp and use the brayer on the back of the paper.

The die cut and the sentiment banner are both popped up with dimensionals, as you can see in the side view below.

For the inside of the card, I took a sponge, inked it, and then dabbed it around the outer edge of the background stamp. I used my brayer as I did with the front die cut piece, thus framing the inside.

I forgot to mention that I took the sponge and inked the edges of the die cut on the front as well as the edges on the inside.

Below is everything that I used to create this card.

2016 Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek - What I Love - Part Four & REMINDER

Hello everyone! Today's card is for the 'fussy cutter'. What I love about fussy cutting is the effect you get when you layer all the things you cut out. And if the card is for someone special, then it's worth the extra work.

In the closeup below you can see the details of the layering better. You can also see the light background stamping I did using the "Hardwood" background stamp. To get that faded look, all you have to do is take a piece of Stampin' Sponge, ink it, and dab the stamp a little here and there. Then take the piece you are going to stamp[ and place it on top of the background stamp and without moving the piece of cardstock, gently rub, or use your brayer, to imprint your background. Who says you have to have the background stamp in it's entirety?

Here, in the following photo, you can see the background effect again where I stamped the sentiment.

Below is a side view. The only thing popped up, with dimensionals, is the foreground flower.

I used the same background technique for the inside of the card. With using Sahara Sand, the background is light enough that it won't interfere with what you write on the inside of the card.

I also off stamped more than once to get lighter colouring with the same ink pads. Have fun with this technique! (What I used will be at the end of this post)
