Sunday Snippets - Eclipse Card

Hi Playmates!

There's a new challenge to play along with over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND hosted by Miss Di for the next fortnight.

Here's my homework - a Ruby Wedding Anniversary card using the eclipse technique.

5.75" square card base

My white snippets

In the Playground, we've all been enjoying the rounds of conkers without the interference of health & safety, and so far, apart from a few rapped knuckles, there have been no serious injuries! Vicky even taped marshmallows to her hands to prevent rapped knuckles! It's been fun meeting up in the treehouse afterwards for hot chocolate. Current champion is Lesley G - who appears to have had some advice from Miss Di on how to harden her best conker with vinegar! Hmmm!

Card materials:

  • Heffy Doodle Stitched Square dies (for the 2 main panels)
  • Julie Hickey number and ordinal dies (for the eclipse technique)
  • White card snippets (for die cutting)
  • Aall & Create #565 Wildflower stamp set, stamped in SU Sahara Sand ink onto main panel.
  • Aall & Create #896 Forget Me Not stamp set. My cut-down heart was stamped over the clock image using SU Rich Razzleberry ink. I then stamped the heart again onto copy paper, cut it out and glued it over the top.

PS: Meet you at the Snippets Playground gates on Hallowe'en - Thursday, 31st Oct - to go trick or treating in the neighbourhood. Costumes on and candy bags at the ready!

Sunday Snippets - Eclipse Technique

Hi Playmates!

My satchel is practically bursting at the seams with homework, but there's still plenty of room for a few bottles of hooch, bars of chocolate and packets of crisps ready for After School Club.

I was busy admiring Lesley and Val's cards made using the Eclipse Technique, so, after refreshing my memory by watching Chrissie Stokes's video - I had a go myself. Thanks for the inspiration girls!

5.75 x 5.75" square card

White snippets die cut for the layers.

Details:

  • Julie Hickey "birthday" die to create the Eclipse technique (see THIS YT VIDEO) - die cut from the image panel once, and from white snippets x3.
  • AALL & Create flower stem from stamp set #985 Flower Smudge, stamped in SU Misty Moonlight ink.
  • Heffy Doodle stitched square dies (retired) to die cut the panel and mount.

I went on to make a wedding card (here) after I tried out the technique on the birthday card above, but the wedding card got blogged first!

I have published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire the top picks and discover which lucky playmate won the prize.

Have a lovely week.

HAPPY CRAFTING.

Sunday Snippets - Love is in the air!

Hi Playmates!

I have a wedding card to submit as my homework this week. I stuffed a few bottles of bubbly and some wedding cake into my satchel too (see me up in the Treehouse to share some of the plunder later!).

I used the Eclipse Technique, plus some gold heat embossing to make the card panel with an AALL & Create heart stamp and a word die from The Works.

which is difficult to photograph
White snippet for the Eclipse layers

Details:

  • White card snippet to die cut the word "love" x 3 to layer up.
  • "Love" die by The Works (retired).
  • Main card panel stamped with Versamark ink, then heat embossed with WOW gold embossing powder. The embossed heart image was subsequently die cut with the "love" die.
  • Heart image by AALL & Create from stamp set #896 "Forget Me Not". NB: I have cut down the size of the hearts in this stamp set to suit me better.
  • "On Your Wedding Day" - stamp make unknown
  • White panel mounted onto a piece of SU Rich Razzleberry card - both were die cut with Heffy Doodle Stitched Square dies.

I'm hosting a new challenge over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND for the next fortnight. So why not take a look at your pile of snippets (I KNOW you have some), make something with them, then come and play!

Easter in the Snippets Playground.

Hi Playmates

HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL.

It's Sunday morning and we're halfway through the current challenge at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND. Last week's game of Tag was great fun, but I'm worn out now, chasing round after you all! Hope you have your best Easter bonnet on for the Parade later!

My latest homework is a friendship card, made for someone special who I thought needed a hug - so I sent her a paper one, as I couldn't give her one in person:

Card measures 4½" x 4½"

The snippets used to create the above card.

Card details:

  • Lawn Fawn GIANT "Friend" die - cut four times (once from patterned paper and thrice more from white card snippets). All four sentiments were glued together to create a dimensional stack, then added to the card front. I was careful to retain the "fall out" from the patterned paper die cut so that it could be stuck back in place.
  • Ancient (but adored) flower punch for the 3 flowers.
  • Craftwork Cards "Card Candi" for the flower centres.

Di has published the RESULTS from her previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire the top picks and discover who won the prize.

PS: Did you see that I'm having a little Easter giveaway HERE? Please feel free to enter.
