Blog Hopping with Clearsnap and Smoothfoam

Smoothfoam Clearsnap 2 Collage.jpg

Welcome to the Clearsnap and Smoothfoam blog hop.  Hop along to each blog in the hop list to see inspiring ways to use Smoothfoam with Clearsnap's ink, created by teams of designers.  Be sure to comment on each blog in the hop, then use the Rafflecopter widget at the end of this post to enter to win a prize pack of Smoothfoam and Clearsnap goodies.

Smoothfoam is styrofoam that has a smooth finish so it can be used for all kinds of projects.  Smoothfoam is definitely a fun product to work with because it  has endless possibilities.  I chose to use it as a base for a 3 dimensional mixed media layout.

To begin, I spritzed the 12" panel with ColorBox Spritzers in Lemon Drop, Putty, Mermaid, and Pumpkin Pie.

Using a baby wipe, I randomly mixed and moved  the colors around the foam.  I wanted some areas smooth and some  a little more blotchy.

Placing the ColorBox  Tropical Art Screen  on top, I added modeling paste through the screen to create 3 dimensional images in the corners.   The more modeling paste I added, the more dimentional the leaves became.  Once dry, I added color to the leaves using Guacamole Chalk Ink with an  art dauber.    Using Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink, I gently rolled the Wordwords Rollagraph Wheel across the foam in the corners opposite the stenciled leaves.  Using an art dauber, I then inked around the edges of the panel with a ColorBox 6 color ink pad in Farmhouse.

Using an art dauber, I added additional layers around the panel using the Tropical Art Screen with ColorBox Crafter's Ink by Ann Butler in Limelight; the Fun Flourish Rollagraph Wheel with ColorBox Crafter's Ink by Ann Butler in Aquamarine; and a Hampton Arts stamp with  ColorBox Crafter's Ink by Ann Butler in Aquamarine Ink.  Adding the different images and assorted colors added a nice collage effect.

I added some May Arts ribbon leaves around the right side of the panel and added some smaller strips of self adhesive gold ribbon around the panel.

Using French Swirl Designer Adhesives with Goldmine Designer Foils added another layer of  dimension around the panel.   You will not get a complete image transfer because of all the inks used, but the bits that do adhere provide some real character to the panel.  I added the left over pieces of Designer Adhesives and Goldmine Designer Foils to the May Arts ribbon leaves.

Since I wanted the title to blend with the  colors I used, I inked white cardstock with the Fun Flourish Rollagraph Wheel and ColorBox Crafter's Ink in Aquamarine, then added the title above the photo.

To finish, I used an art dauber  to add more color around the edges, blending more color from the edges onto the panel.

Then I used Ann Butler's stamps from KellyCraft to finish the sides of the panel with ColorBox Guacamole Chalk Ink.

Smoothfoam is an amazing surface for mixed media work.  The inks and spritzers do not dry immediately so you have time to create some fun effects.

Happy Father's Day

Hi everyone.

I can't believe it's April 1st already - how fast time is going.  I believe it's never too early to get special cards ready for the important people in our lives.  So it's time to create a Father's Day card.  I used the Lighthouse 3 digital image from  Cornish Heritage Farms, adding color with Zig Markers.

The image was die cut with Spellbinders dies before adding to the card.

Wishing you peace and joy

Happy New Year.

This 3D window pane set from  Globecraft Memories is awesome.  2 layers of panes can be added together to create an amazing effect.

I used Mardi Gras Embossing Powder on the bottom frame and Poodle Skirt Embossing Powder on the top frame, coating each piece twice.

I adhered the two pieces together with The Best Glue Ever from Scraperfect and used alligator clips to hold the pieces together.

While waiting for the pieces to adhere, I die cut two sizes of a candle scene using my Cricut Expression and A Quilted Christmas Cartridge.  Placing the windows atop my candles, I was able to determine exactly where I wanted the window panes to sit.

After creating my card, I stamped a sweet sentiment on cardstock and place it on the card before adding the window.  I used The Best Glue Ever  to adhere the window to the card.   I added some Gold Stickles on the tops of the candles so they appear to glow through the window panes.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Visit the list of blogs below and leave a comment on each by Nov 27, 2012 at 11:59 PM PST. Each day we will be sharing a brand new list of blogs with brand new projects for you to explore, be inspired by, and create from!

My first project is a card using a combination of awesome products from our sponsers.

Globecraft Memories Products:
Silver Enamel Powder
Enamel Powder Adhesive
Glastique

Pattern paper: Authentique Festive and Peaceful lines
Punch: Fiskars
Stamp: Hampton Arts
Ink: Clearsnap
Adhesive: Tombow

I first punched some snowflakes with the Fiskars medium Snowflake Punch, then covered them with Globecraft Memories Piccolo Enamel Powder Adhesive and Vintage Silver Enamel Powder.  As each snowflake cooled, I added additional Silver Powder to create 3D snowflakes.  I finished with a light layer of Glastique to make the snowflakes come alive.

I cut the Authentique Festive paper to create my card base, then cut the Peaceful snowflake paper for the center of the card.  The "Peace" Hampton Arts stamp was a perfect mate for the papers and snowflakes and I stamped it with Clearsnap Ink directly onto the Authentique paper.

To finish, I created an oval mat onto which I added the snowflakes to finish off the card.  To make the snowflakes pop off the oval, I used Tombow Power Tabs to provide some dimension.

My next project is a local craft store find and I knew it would be perfect for this blog hop!

Globecraft Memories Products:
Enamel Powders:  Copper Kettle, Cranberry Wine, Temple Stone, Mossy Glen
Enamel Powder Adhesive
Glastique
Piccolo Card Decor set #2

Pattern paper: Authentique Festive
Adhesive: Tombow
Twine: The Twinery - Cappuchino, Maraschino
Ink: Clearsnap Mix'd Media Inx

I began by adding Cranberry Wine Enamel Powder to the top and bottom of the ornament.  I was very generous because the powder goes a long way and the excess goes right back into the jar.

Once this first layer was heat set, I added a combination of Mossy Glen and Temple Stone to create a metallic look to the edges of this wood ornament.

Once I was finished with these areas, I used Authentique's Festive paper line and traced the outline of the ornament on the back of the paper and then cut it out.  I used Clearsnap's Mix'd Media Inx around the pattern paper before adhering it to the wood base with Tombow Mono Liquid Glue.  I then cut up several additional pattern papers and inked all edges before adhering them across the center of the ornament with Tombow Mono Adhesive Power Bond.

Using Piccolo Card Decor set #2, I coated each piece with Copper Kettle three times, heat setting between each layer, then added some Glastique to the pieces when they cooled.  The Glastique made the elements easy to handle and very pliable.  Since I had the Glastique in my hands, I used the Glastique as an adhesive to adhere the pieces to the ornament.
To finish the ornament, I cut some scraps of red cardstock and adhered them before wrapping some Maraschino Twine around the ornament's base and some Cappucchio Twine around the ornament's top.  Then I twirled both colors together and tied them to the top of the ornament and created the hanger.

I want to send a big thanks to the sponsors of this hop who generously provided products for this blog hop.

Scor-pal and Hampton Arts

This was my post for the Scor-pal and Hampton Arts blog hop.  Check the Scor-pal blog for lots of inspiration.

With the hurricane devastation we recently experienced here in New York and the second storm that dropped 3-8 inches of snow this week, I thought I'd create a bright and cheery card using my Scor-pal and this awesome Woodlands stamp by Hampton Arts.

I began by cutting green cardstock to fit the base of the card, then cutting beige cardstock slightly smaller.  I scored 1/2" around the edges of the beige cardstock and inked it with brown ink to highlight the scored lines.  Using a Scor-pal makes perfect scored lines every time.

I stamped the image in black ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder, then used Copic Markers to color in the image.  I trimmed the image so that when it was added to a brown mat, it would fit inside the scored lines.

I finished the interior of my card by cutting cardstock 5 3/4" x 4 1/4", then scored 1/2" around the edges with my Scor-pal and inked the edges with brown ink to highlight the scored lines.

Using the Hampton Arts Blessed Beyond Measure Stamp, I inked up "Blessed" and used that for my interior sentiment.

For my next project, I created popcorn treat packages. These were so much fun to make so I created 3 of them to give away.

Begin by cutting cardstock 9" x 6".
Place the 9" length across your Scor-pal and score at 2 1/4", 2 1/2", 6 1/2" and 6 3/4".

Cut pattern paper as folows:
1 Front panel: 3 3/4" x 5 1/2"
2 Back panels: 2" x 5 1/2"
Add these panels to the base cardstock, fitting them within the scored lines
Decorate the front as desired.
For one package, I fussy cut a leaf from pattern paper and added it to the front with Scor-tape.  For the other two, I die cut an oval and embossed it before adding it to the front with Scor-tape.
On each of them I used Hampton Art's stamp Continuous Small Treats which I stamped in black ink.

Fold on the scored lines and apply Scor-tape along one edge to seal the package in the back.   Using a Crop-a-dile, punch a hole in the front and back panels, approximately 3/4" from the top edge.

Cut ribbon long enough to wrap around the popcorn bag plus an extra 4-5 inches.  Center the ribbon around the popcorn bag.

Push the popcorn bag AND the ribbon into the treat container.  Carefully pull one ribbon end through the hole in front panel and one ribbon end through the hole in the back panel.  Once the popcorn package is seated nicely in it's new package, tie a bow at the top.  As you carefully pull on the bow, the popcorn bag will become visible.  To hide the popcorn bag, just gently push it back in place.

Love Birds

My first post for Globecraft Memories is posted on their blog and I wanted to show you what I've done with these fun new products. I  am a card maker at heart so I couldn't wait to get my hands on these products.

Taking apart the Love Flouishes Card Decor, I decided to start with the frame.  I covered the frame with Enamel Powder Adhesive then added Enchanted Aubergine and heat set.  I applied a second layer of Adhesive and another layer of Enchanted Aubergine.  Once dry (and this product dries very quickly), I added random touches of Adhesive and then added 24K Gold Powder on top.

As I heat set this final layer, the particles moved around creating some amazing effects on my frame.
To add a little more pizzazz to the frame I used one of the flourishes from this set and covered it with Mermaid Tears.

The sentiment was stamped with Stardust Watermark Twinkle and Mermaid Tears were added on top.   After heat setting I had a beautiful sentiment.

Using Glue Gloss around the edges of my tag, I again added Mermaid Tears by just pouring it over the tag.    After heat setting I had this wonderful tag.

I placed the frame on top of my stamped image and cut away the excess before creating my card.  Then I added the sentiment to the right side with the tiny heart attached.

Be My Valentine

What do you get when you combine Mix'd Media Inx, Pearl Embossing Powder and Smooch Glitz? A LOVE-ly stamped image with a hint of shimmer.

I inked the stamp with Mix'd Media Jasmine Inx then embossed it with Pearl Embossing Powder. I love the soft, pretty look I was able to achieve.

The smaller sentiment was added with foam adhesives for dimension. Pink Fizz Smooch Glitz was "painted" around the smaller sentiment and then on top of the brads.

Hope you have an awesome Valentine's Day!!!

Hello

October's Out of the Box Color Challenge at Clearsnap features Picante, Chestnut and Pistachio ColorBox Classic Pigment Inkpads. To play along, create a project using the colors above, upload it to your blog or online gallery, and post a direct link to your project here. This Challenge ends November 14, 2011 so start creating now!!

This is the card I created. I used a Hampton Arts Screen for the corners of my card and inked it with Pistachio. I then spritzed the entire card with Log Cabin Smooch Spritz. The stamps are from Hero Arts and I decided to ink my image with all 3 colors while on the stamp block. I wanted to create a "changing seasons" effect. I then matted it with orange and brown cardstock and wrapped twine around it.

The tags were inked the same and a Hero Arts round pattern stamp was stamped in Picante onto both tags, then "Hello" was stamped in Chestnut. The torn edge of the card was inked in Picante while the other 3 edges were inked with Chestnut.

Let's see what you can create. Remember to upload your link here.
